To my right, to my left, and before

me and behind me is love—how can I flee?

If I leave my place because of something

that troubles me, beneath the arch of my foot lies something harmful—

like one lifting his feet away from the wetness of rain,

while all the land around him is a sea.

It flashed for me until, when I said, 'It has poured rain,'

it cleared away, revealing a rainless cloud that yields no rain.

O lightning flash that brings no benefit,

we have already recognized you; so seek someone you can deceive.
