فَياso, oh عَجَباwhat a wonder زَيَّنتُI adorned نَفسيmyself بِحُبِّهاwith love for her
وَزانَتand she adorned بِهَجريby forsaking me نَفسَهاherself وَتَحَلَّتِand decked herself in finery
Oh, what a wonder! I adorned myself with love for her,
And she adorned herself by forsaking me and decked herself in finery.
فَبينيso depart كَماas بانَdeparted الشَبابُyouth الَّذيthat مَضىpassed
وَكانَتand there was يَدٌa hand of favor مِنهُfrom it عَلَيَّupon me فَوَلَّتِthen it withdrew
So depart, as departed the youth that has passed,
And its kindly hand had rested upon me, then withdrew.
