Never set anyone over you, when
Don't make anyone who you love
You love him and are enamored of him, as a lord.
And are infatuated with a lord over you
وَصِلِand maintain ties with الخَليلَthe close friend إِذاwhen شُغِفتَyou are smitten بِهِwith him
وَاِطوِand withhold الزِيارَةَthe visit دونَهُfrom him غِبّاon alternate days
And maintain ties with your friend when you are smitten with him,
Visit a dear friend when you are enthralled by him
And leave a day between your visits to him.
And make the visit to him from afar without him

For that is better than constant contact
For that is better than constant companionship
Which does not bring you closer to him.
That does not increase your closeness to him at all

But he grows weary; then you call him by name,
But he grows bored, then you call out his name
So he says, “Huh?”—though he so often answered before.
And he says "Here I am," though he's long ignored you
