أَلا إِنَّ أَبا زَيدٍ

أَلا إِنَّ أَبا زَيدٍ

زَنى في لَيلَةِ القَدرِ

زَنى في لَيلَةِ القَدرِ

Lo, indeed Abu Zayd

Behold! Abu Zayd

committed fornication on the Night of Decree,

Committed adultery on the night of al-Qadr

وَلَم يَرعَ تَعالى اللَ

وَلَم يَرعَ تَعالى اللَ

هُ رَبّي حُرمَةَ الشَهرِ

هُ رَبّي حُرمَةَ الشَهرِ

and did not honor—exalted is God,

And did not heed the Most High

my Lord—the sanctity of the month.

My Lord forbid violating the sanctity of this month
