إِنَّindeed الطَبيبَthe physician بِطِبِّهِwith his medical skill وَدَوائِهِand his medicine
إِنَّ الطَبيبَ بِطِبِّهِ وَدَوائِهِ
لاnot يَستَطيعُis able دِفاعَwarding off مَقدورٍa decreed fate أَتىhas arrived
لا يَستَطيعُ دِفاعَ مَقدورٍ أَتى
Indeed, the physician, for all his skill and medicine,
Indeed, the physician, with his medical skill and medicine,
cannot ward off a fate whose hour has come.
cannot ward off a decreed fate that has arrived.
ماwhat is the matter لِلطَبيبِwith the physician يَموتُdies بِالداءِof the disease الَّذيthat
ما لِلطَبيبِ يَموتُ بِالداءِ الَّذي
قَدindeed كانَused to يُبريcure مِثلَهُits like فيماin what مَضىhas passed
قَد كانَ يُبري مِثلَهُ فيما مَضى

مَن لا يُرَدُّ وَلا يُجاوَزُ ما قَضى
Only because over mankind there rules
Only because creation is ruled by
One who cannot be turned back, nor can what He decrees be overstepped.
One who cannot be resisted, nor can what He has decreed be overstepped.
