إِبليسُ خَيرٌ مِن أَبيكُم آدَمٍ

إِبليسُ خَيرٌ مِن أَبيكُم آدَمٍ

فَتَنَبَّهوا يا مَعشَرَ الفُجّارِ

فَتَنَبَّهوا يا مَعشَرَ الفُجّارِ

Iblis is better than your father Adam—

Iblis is better than your father Adam.

So take heed, O company of sinners!

So take heed, O company of the wicked.

إِبليسُ مِن نارٍ وَآدَمُ طينَةٌ

إِبليسُ مِن نارٍ وَآدَمُ طينَةٌ

وَالأَرضُ لا تَسمو سُمُوَّ النارِ

وَالأَرضُ لا تَسمو سُمُوَّ النارِ

Iblis is of fire, while Adam is clay;

Iblis is of fire, and Adam is a lump of clay.

And earth can never soar as high as fire.

And earth does not rise as fire rises.
