وَأَعرَجَ يَأتينا كَظِلِّ نَعامَةٍ

وَأَعرَجَ يَأتينا كَظِلِّ نَعامَةٍ

يَقومُ عَلى الأَبوابِ في السَبَراتِ

يَقومُ عَلى الأَبوابِ في السَبَراتِ

And a lame man comes to us like an ostrich’s shadow;

He came limping like the shadow of an ostrich,

he stands at the doors in the bitter cold.

Standing at the doors in the times before dawn.
