عَلى النَفسِ مِن عَينِها شاهِدٌ

عَلى النَفسِ مِن عَينِها شاهِدٌ

فَكاتِم حَديثَكَ أَو نُمَّه

فَكاتِم حَديثَكَ أَو نُمَّه

Against the soul, a witness stands in its own two eyes:

The soul’s own eye bears witness against it.

thus either the keeper of your secret—or the talebearer who spreads it.

So conceal your speech, or divulge it.
