لَهُhe has هِمَمٌambitions لاno مُنتَهىlimit لِكِبارِهاto the greatest of them
لَهُ هِمَمٌ لا مُنتَهى لِكِبارِها
وَهِمَّتُهُand his ambition الصُغرىleast أَجَلُّgrander مِنَthan الدَهرِtime
وَهِمَّتُهُ الصُغرى أَجَلُّ مِنَ الدَهرِ
His are ambitions whose loftiest have no limit;
He has ambitions whose greatest know no bounds,
even his least ambition is more exalted than Time.
and his least ambition is grander than time itself.
لَهُhe has راحَةٌa palm لَوif أَنَّthat مِعشارَa tenth of جودِهاits bounty
لَهُ راحَةٌ لَو أَنَّ مِعشارَ جودِها
عَلىupon البرِّthe land صارَwould become البرُّthe land أَندىmore bountiful مِنَthan البَحرِthe sea
عَلى البرِّ صارَ البرُّ أَندى مِنَ البَحرِ
His is a palm—if but a tenth of its bounty
He has a palm—if a tenth of its bounty
were bestowed upon the land, the land would grow more bountiful than the sea.

وَلَوand if أَنَّthat خَلقَthe creation of اللَهِGod فيin مسكِthe skin of فارِسٍa warrior
وَلَو أَنَّ خَلقَ اللَهِ في مسكِ فارِسٍ
وَبارَزَهُand faced him in single combat كانَhe would be الخَلِيّbereft مِنَof العُمرِlife
وَبارَزَهُ كانَ الخَلِيّ مِنَ العُمرِ
And were all God’s creation gathered in the body of one horseman
And if all God's creation were in one warrior's skin,
to face him, that challenger would be left bereft of life.
and faced him in single combat, that warrior would be bereft of life.
أَباO father of دُلَفٍDulaf بورِكتَmay you be blessed فيin كُلِّevery بَلدَةٍtown
أَبا دُلَفٍ بورِكتَ في كُلِّ بَلدَةٍ
كَماjust as بورِكَتwas blessed فيin شَهرِهاits month لَيلَةُthe Night of القَدرِDecree
كَما بورِكَت في شَهرِها لَيلَةُ القَدرِ
O Abu Dulaf, blessed may you be in every land,
O Abu Dulaf, may you be blessed in every town,
as the Night of Power is blessed in its month.
just as the Night of Decree was blessed in its month.
