فالمجدُ يبكي عليها جازِعاً أسِفاً

فالمجدُ يبكي عليها جازِعاً أسِفاً

والدينُ يَنْدُبها والفضلُ يَنْعاها

والدينُ يَنْدُبها والفضلُ يَنْعاها

So glory weeps for her, anguished and sorrowful.

So glory weeps over it bitterly grieved,

And religion mourns her, and excellence proclaims her death.

And religion mourns it, and virtue laments its loss,

وخرَّ من شامخاتِ العلمِ أرفعُها

وخرَّ من شامخاتِ العلمِ أرفعُها

وانْهدَّ من باذخاتِ الحلمِ أرساها

وانْهدَّ من باذخاتِ الحلمِ أرساها

And the highest of knowledge's towering pinnacles has fallen.

And the highest of the pillars of knowledge fell,

And the firmest of forbearance's lofty pinnacles has collapsed.

And the strongest of the bastions of wisdom collapsed.
