O dwellers in the land of Herat, has it not been enough—
O dwellers of the land of Herat, haven't you had enough
This separation? Yes, by the sanctity of the Chosen One!
Of this separation? By the right of Al-Mustafa, return!

Return to [an unspecified recipient], for the abode of my patience has bowed low.
My patience has worn out, and since we parted, sleep eludes my eyes
And since the separation, the eyelid has not dozed.
Your memory lingers in my mind, and my heart is distraught

والقلب في بلبال
And your image is in my mind,
Whenever the breeze blows from your direction
And the heart is in turmoil.
We bid it welcome, greetings friend!

قلنا لها أهلا وسهلا مرحبا
If the east wind comes from your direction,
To you, the longing heart has poured out
We say to it, "A warm and hearty welcome!"

وفراقكم للروح منه قدسيا
And the lovesick lover's heart has yearned toward you.
And my heart is not devoid
And separation from you—for the soul, from it—[ending unclear as written].

How I long for the abode of Al-Hima, its houses
Of love for her with the beauty mark.

O how lovely the dwelling in the protected grounds—what a spring abode!
I cannot forget it since we parted, bidding farewell
So he raided for him [opening unclear as written]; ghada wood blazed within my ribs.

My patience has not waned
With flowing tears and an aching heart.

His sweet, limpid mouth.
