We saw the bān branches lean in lovesick longing

Toward the dwellers on the ridge amid sandy tracts and bān trees.

And we have more cause to yearn for the one we love,

And to burn with longing—love’s sorrows, what sorrows!

We incline toward the one who stirred hearts; and his love

Has left us no need for the wine-seller, the wine, and the taverns.
