1. عُوجا إلى الوادي المُقَدَّسِ بالسُّرى

    يا نُوقُ واحْتَلَّي بأَكرمِ منزِلِ

    Turn aside, you two, to the sacred valley by night,

    O she-camels, and settle at the noblest dwelling.

  2. وتَنَوَّري مُقَلاً بزُبْدَةِ عُصبَةٍ

    شُمِّ الأُنوفِ من الطِّرازِ الأوَّلِ

    And illumine your eyes with the cream of a company,

    Proud and high-nosed, of the foremost order.

  3. واستنْشِقي عِطرَ النُّبوَّةِ منه عن

    صدقٍ وقَلباً عنهُ لا تتحوَّلي

    And breathe from him the fragrance of prophethood in

    Sincerity, and do not turn your heart away from him.

  4. حُبِّي له في سِمْطِ سِرِّي أَوَّلٌ

    لا تَجهَلي حُبِّي له وتأَوُّلي

    My love for him is first in the necklace of my inward secret.

    Do not be ignorant of my love for him and my interpretation.

  5. عُرِضَتْ عليَّ شُؤُنُ حُبٍّ بعدَهُ

    ما الحُبُّ إِلاَّ للحَبيبِ الأوَّلِ

    Affairs of love were presented to me after him;

    Love is only for the first beloved.

  6. كنزٌ من العِرْفانِ صِينَ برَوْنَقٍ

    بَرَكاتُهُ بأُولي النُّهى لم تُجهَلِ

    A treasure of gnosis, preserved in splendor,

    His blessings were not unknown to people of understanding.

  7. إنِّي أُشاهِدُ فيه معنًى خافِياً

    بُرهانُهُ كالسَّيفِ للمُتَمَحِّلِ

    I behold in him a hidden meaning;

    Its proof is like a sword against the quibbler.

  8. سيُقيمُ في الأَقطارِ نوبَةَ أَحمدٍ

    ويقومُ عنهُ مُطَيْلِساً في هَيْكَلِ

    He will establish Ahmad's turn of service throughout the lands,

    And stand in his stead, wearing a taylasan cloak, in a sanctuary.

  9. وبحالِهِ تبدو حَقيقَةُ جَدِّهِ

    وببيتِهِ أَنوارُ أحمدَ تنجَلي

    Through his spiritual state, his grandfather's reality appears,

    And in his house Ahmad's lights are revealed.

  10. باللهِ يا حادي النِّياقِ ألِيَّةً

    إنْ جئتَ وادي قُدْسِهِ فترجَّلِ

    By God, O driver of she-camels, I adjure you:

    If you come to the valley of his holiness, dismount.

  11. واخلَعْ له نَعْلَيْكَ وادخُلْ خاشِعاً

    كبِّر بذَيَّاكَ الرِّحابِ وهَلِّلِ

    Remove your two sandals for him, and enter humbly.

    Proclaim God's greatness in those precincts, and proclaim His oneness.

  12. وادي الوَلايَةِ من صَميمِ محمَّدٍ

    سِرُّ النُّبوَّةِ عروَةَ المُتَوَسِّلِ

    The valley of sainthood, from Muhammad's innermost essence,

    The secret of prophethood, the intercession-seeker's handhold.

  13. طَهَ الحَقائقِ حكمُ يس العَمى

    طس نَصِّ كِتابِهِ المُتَنَزِّلِ

    The Ṭā-Hā of realities, the rule of Yā-Sīn of obscurity,

    The Ṭā-Sīn of the text of his Book sent down,

  14. ق الإحاطَةِ في مَضامينِ العُلى

    في كلِّ مَعْراجٍ بَسيطٍ أو علي

    The Qāf of encompassing, within the meanings of the heights,

    In every ascent, simple or lofty.

  15. فالسِّرُّ سِرُّ محمَّدٍ وشُروقُهُ

    في سِرِّ وادي القُدسِ لا في الأجبُلِ

    For the secret is Muhammad's secret, and its dawning

    Lies in the secret of the holy valley, not in the mountains.

  16. وادٍ بذِكرِ اللهِ ضاءَ مُشَعْشَعاً

    بطَريقَةِ المدَّثرِ المُزَّمِلِ

    A valley that shone radiantly with the remembrance of God,

    By the way of the Cloaked One, the Enwrapped One.

  17. تلكَ الخَوارِقُ عن أَبيهِ وجدِّهِ

    وارفَعْ إلى الزَّهراءِ والمولى علي

    Those marvels come from his father and grandfather;

    And trace them upward to al-Zahra and the master Ali.

  18. لا تنحَجِبْ عنهُ بظاهِرِ طَوْرِهِ

    يُبْديكَ في المرآةِ نسجُ الصَّيْقَلِ

    Do not be veiled from him by his outward state;

    The polisher's workmanship reveals you in the mirror.

  19. وارْكُنْ إليه وخذْ نَتائجَ قلبِهِ

    فمَتى ثبَتَّ بلوحِهِ لم تُخْذَلِ

    Rely on him, and take the fruits of his heart;

    Whenever you stand firm upon his tablet, you will not be forsaken.

  20. ذو الرُّتبَةِ القَعْساءِ والمَدَدِ الَّذي

    في سيرِهِ للهِ لم يتَزَلْزَلِ

    Possessor of unshakable rank and sustaining aid, who

    Has never wavered in his journey to God.

  21. متَمَكِّنٌ في طَوْرِهِ متوَطِّدٌ

    في سِرِّهِ متأوِّدٌ لم يعْجَلِ

    Firmly established in his state, securely rooted

    In his secret, swaying gently, never hasty.

  22. أَخفى سَريرَتَهُ وصانَ شُؤُنَهُ

    عن غيرِ بارِئِهِ بصدقِ تبتُّلِ

    He concealed his innermost self and guarded his affairs

    From all but his Maker, in sincere devotion.

  23. لم أَنسَ إذْ قالَ النَّبيُّ عشِيَّةً

    بارِكْ على ذا السِّيِّدِ المُتَوَكِّلِ

    I have not forgotten when the Prophet said one evening:

    Bless this lord who puts his trust in God.

  24. فحَفَفْتُهُ منِّي بنفحَةِ جدِّهِ

    وطَوَيْتُ فيه عُذَيْبَ أَشرفِ منهَلِ

    So I enfolded him, on my part, in a waft from his grandfather,

    And folded into him the sweet water (ʿUdhayb) of the noblest spring.

  25. فرأَيتُ فيه رَقيقَةً فضفاضَةً

    سحَّتْ على أَهلِ القَبولِ بجدْوَلِ

    Then I saw in him a subtle essence, ample,

    That poured in a stream upon the people of acceptance.

  26. أنعِمْ به حَسَناً جَليلاً قدرُهُ

    مَجْلاهُ بينَ تَذَلُّلٍ وتدلُّلِ

    How excellent he is in beauty, how majestic his worth!

    His manifestation lies between humility and affectionate boldness.

  27. ربَّتْهُ معنًى في جميع شُؤُنِهِ

    روحُ الإمامِ الأَحمَدِيِّ أبي علي

    He was nurtured inwardly in all his affairs by

    The spirit of the Ahmadi imam, Abu Ali.

  28. وجَلَتْهُ من شَيْخونَ كوكَبَ سَمكِها

    فأَضاءَ في الأَكوانِ دونَ تسلُّلِ

    And unveiled from Shaykhun as the star of its vault,

    So he shone throughout the worlds, without stealth.

  29. وشَرائِفِ العهدِ الصَّميمِ وخالِصِ ال

    وُدِّ القَديمِ وأزْجُلٍ لم تُنْقَلِ

    And the honors of the heartfelt covenant, and the pure essence of the

    Ancient affection, and chants never transmitted.

  30. سيُرى له بيتٌ يَطولُ عِنانُهُ

    شَرَفاً إلى هامِ السَّماكِ الأعْزَلِ

    A house will appear for him, its rein stretching

    In honor, to the crown of al-Simak the Unarmed.

  31. ويُحَفُّ بالأَقطابِ من أَركانِهِ

    ما بينَ شيخٍ لَوْذَعِيٍّ أو وَلي

    And it will be surrounded by spiritual poles at its corners,

    Whether a keen-witted shaykh or a saint.

  32. ويَسيرُ للأقْطارِ سائِرُ ذِكْرِهِ

    حيًّا وميْتاً ضمنَ مظهَرِهِ الجَلي

    And his spreading renown will travel throughout the lands,

    In life and death, within his evident manifestation.

  33. فكأنَّه في كلِّ حيٍّ حاضِرٌ

    حيٌّ وعامِلُ حالِهِ لم يَبْطُلِ

    So it is as though he were present in every community,

    Alive, and the influence of his spiritual state has never ceased.

  34. عَجَباً لذي طمسٍ رآهُ وما رأَى

    معنى الجَمالِ بهِ ولم يَتَعَقَّلِ

    How strange that one with clouded sight saw him, yet did not see

    The meaning of beauty in him, and did not comprehend!

  35. هذا هو الكَنْزُ المُطَلْسَمُ فالْتَزِمْ

    أرْصادَهُ لتفُكَّها بتذَلُّلِ

    This is the talisman-bound treasure; so attend to

    Its guardian talismans, to undo them through humility.

  36. واجْعلهُ في مِحرابِ قَلبِكَ واسْتَفِضْ

    منه عنه كلَّ خيرٍ فانْقُلِ

    And place him in the prayer-niche of your heart, and receive abundantly

    Every good from him; then transmit it on his authority.

  37. هو عينُ شيخِ المُشْرِقينَ حَقيقَةً

    سامي الجَنابِ أَبي الذِّراعِ الأَطْوَلِ

    He is truly the very essence of the shaykh of the radiant ones,

    Lofty in station, Abu al-Dhiraʿ al-Atwal.

  38. قومٌ شُؤُنُ محمَّدٍ برَزَتْ بهم

    فغَدَوْا بها أملاً لكلِّ مؤمِّلِ

    A people through whom Muhammad's qualities appeared,

    And through these they became a hope for all who hope.

  39. خذْها نَصيحَةَ مُرشِدٍ لك عارِفٍ

    من لُبِّ هاشِمَ ذي حُسامٍ فَيْصَلِ

    Take it as the counsel of a guide for you, versed in gnosis,

    From the heart of Hashim, bearer of a decisive sword.

  40. فاسْتَجْلِ منها الرَّمزَ وافهَمْ حُكمَهُ

    واذكرْ نبيَّكَ بالصَّلاةِ وأجْزِلِ

    So bring its allusion to light, and understand its ruling;

    And remember your Prophet with blessings, and bestow them lavishly.
