كانوا رَبيعاً للقُلُو

كانوا رَبيعاً للقُلُو

بِ وجنَّةً للأعْيُنِ

بِ وجنَّةً للأعْيُنِ

They were springtime for hearts

They were a spring for hearts,

and a paradise for eyes,

A paradise for eyes,

ووسيلَةً لأُولي الطَّري

ووسيلَةً لأُولي الطَّري

قِ إلى المَقامِ الأَحسنِ

قِ إلى المَقامِ الأَحسنِ

and a means for those on the path

And a means for the people of the path

to reach the finest station.

To the most sublime abode.

وقضَوْا كِراماً طيِّبي

وقضَوْا كِراماً طيِّبي

نَ وعيشُهُمْ عيشٌ هَني

نَ وعيشُهُمْ عيشٌ هَني

And they passed away noble and pure,

They lived honorable, pleasant lives,

and their life was a blissful life.

Their livelihood was comfortable.

فازوا بقُرْبِ مَليكِهِمْ

فازوا بقُرْبِ مَليكِهِمْ

ورِكابُهُمْ لم تَنْثَنِ

ورِكابُهُمْ لم تَنْثَنِ

They attained nearness to their Sovereign,

They won nearness to their King,

and their mounts did not turn back.

Their mounts did not falter.

طَبَعوا على الذِّكرِ القُلُو

طَبَعوا على الذِّكرِ القُلُو

بَ وناطِقاتِ اللألسُنِ

بَ وناطِقاتِ اللألسُنِ

They imprinted remembrance upon hearts

They imprinted hearts with remembrance,

and upon the tongues that speak.

And tongues with eloquence.

وسَرَوْا لحضْرَةِ أُنسِهِمْ

وسَرَوْا لحضْرَةِ أُنسِهِمْ

وتوسَّطوا الرُّحْبَ السَّني

وتوسَّطوا الرُّحْبَ السَّني

And they journeyed by night to the presence of their solace,

They journeyed to the presence of their intimacy,

and entered the midst of the splendid expanse.

And trod the spacious meadow.

وأَنا أقولُ ورَكْبُهُمْ

وأَنا أقولُ ورَكْبُهُمْ

يَسري بهِمْ يا لَيْتَني

يَسري بهِمْ يا لَيْتَني

And I say, as their caravan

As for me, I say as their caravan

journeys by night with them: “Oh, if only I...”

Moves on with them, "Oh, would that I were!"
