1. للقلبِ في سَبْكِ الحُروفِ معانِ

    كالنُّورِ يُبْدي رونَقَ الأَلوَانِ

    The heart has meanings in the casting of letters,

    like light revealing the luster of colors.

  2. والمرءُ ليسَ بذي عُلًى في شأنِهِ

    إنْ لم يُحِطْ فيها بكلِّ لِسَانِ

    And a person has no eminence in his affairs

    unless he comprehends therein every tongue.

  3. ومَعارِجُ الأَفْكارِ وهي عَويصَةٌ

    يُبْدي طُواها العارِفُ الرَّبَّاني

    And the ascents of thought, though intricate,

    have their hidden folds revealed by the godly knower.

  4. ويمُرُّ في صُفَفِ القُلُوبِ بسِرِّهِ

    مَرَّ الشِّهابِ ببُرْجِهِ النُّوراني

    And with his secret he passes through the porticoes of hearts,

    as a meteor through its luminous celestial mansion.

  5. عُذراً لجاهِلِنا فليسَ لأَخْرَسٍ

    حُسْنُ المَقالِ وباهِرُ التَّبْيَانِ

    Pardon our ignorant one: a mute has neither

    beauty of speech nor dazzling exposition.

  6. نَظَرَ السَّماءَ فقالَ تلكَ بَعيدَةٌ

    جُحْداً لما فيها من البُرْهَانِ

    He looked at the sky and said, "That is far away,"

    denying the proof within it.

  7. ورأى سَحابَ القُدسِ يهطُلُ فوقَنا

    فانْجابَ مُزْدَلِقاً معَ الشَّيْطَانِ

    And he saw the clouds of holiness raining above us,

    then withdrew, slipping away with Satan.

  8. ولَنحنُ في طيِّ الغُيوبِ ونَشْرِها

    أَهلُ الوَحا ساداتُ كلِّ زَمَانِ

    And surely, in folding and unfolding the unseen,

    we are people of revelation, masters of every age.

  9. وأَنا ابنُ من رَكِبَ البُراقَ مُرَفْرِفاً

    فوقَ الطِّباقِ وجازَ عن كيوَانِ

    And I am the son of him who rode Buraq, soaring

    above the layered heavens and passed beyond Kaywan.

  10. وأَنا ابْنُ من في بدرَ رَدَّ جُموعَهُمْ

    عَرَضاً وذَلَّلَ عِزَّةَ الصُّلْبَانِ

    And I am the son of him who at Badr drove back their hosts,

    in passing, and humbled the might of the crosses.

  11. وأَنا ابْنُ من يومَ الغَرِيِّ بنفسِهِ

    فَلَقَ العَجاجَ وما لديهِ ثَانِ

    And I am the son of him who, on the day of al-Ghari, alone

    cleft the battle-dust, with no second beside him.

  12. وأَنا ابْنُ من قَطَعَ اللَّيالي ساجِداً

    بحرِ النَّدى السَّجَّادِ سامي الشَّانِ

    And I am the son of him who spent the nights prostrate,

    the sea of bounty, al-Sajjad, lofty in station.

  13. وأَنا ابْنُ باقِرِ كلِّ علمٍ غامِضٍ

    والمُطْلِقِ المَعنى بكلِّ عِنَانِ

    And I am the son of Baqir, who lays open every obscure science,

    and gives meaning full freedom of rein.

  14. وأَنا ابْنُ جعفَرِ جَيْشِها نِحْريرِها

    بحرِ العُلومِ مُفَسِّرِ الفُرْقَانِ

    And I am the son of Ja'far, its army and its master-scholar,

    the sea of sciences, interpreter of the Furqan.

  15. وأَنا ابْنُ كاظِمِ غيظِهِ مَجْلى الهُدَى

    روحِ الرِّسالَةِ باهِرِ التَّبْيَانِ

    And I am the son of Kazim, restrainer of his wrath, the manifestation of guidance,

    the spirit of the message, brilliant in exposition.

  16. وأَنا ابْنُ ضَيْغَمِها الهِزَبْرِ المُرْتَضى

    أَعني المُجابَ الجِهْبَذَ الصَّمَداني

    And I am the son of its fierce lion, the mighty lion, al-Murtada,

    I mean al-Mujab, the master sage devoted to the Eternal.

  17. وأَنا ابْنُ من في واسِطٍ رُفِعَتْ لهُ

    في سَمكِ بُحْبوحِ العُلى العَلَمَانِ

    And I am the son of him for whom in Wasit were raised

    the two banners, high in the spacious heart of eminence.

  18. جَحْجاحُ طائِفَةِ الرِّجالِ إمامُهُمْ

    سبَّارُ غايَتِهِمْ بكلِّ مَكَانِ

    The mighty chief of the company of men, their imam,

    who plumbs their utmost goal in every place.

  19. وأَبو اليدِ البَيْضاءِ والعزمِ الَّذي

    أَلقى الخُمودَ بِلاهِبِ النِّيرَانِ

    And possessor of the white hand and the resolve that

    cast extinction into the blazing fires.

  20. طَمْطامُها العَجَّاجُ صاحِبُ جُندِها

    يومَ العَجاجِ مُجَنْدِلُ الفُرْسَانِ

    Its vast, roaring ocean, master of its army,

    on the day of battle-dust, the feller of horsemen.

  21. شيخُ الخُضوعِ أَبو الخُشوعِ أَخو الدُّمو

    عِ الفاتِكُ العَزَماتِ في الميدَانِ

    Master of submission, father of reverence, companion of

    tears, fierce in resolve upon the field.

  22. ربُّ الجَلالَةِ والبَسالَةِ في طُوى

    سِرِّ الرِّسالَةِ صاحِبُ البُرْهَانِ

    Master of majesty and valor in the folds

    of the message's secret, bearer of proof.

  23. رُوحي مَدارُ فُتوحِها مِفْتاحُ ما

    قدْ أَغلقَتْ لي رَفَّةُ الأَكْوَانِ

    My spirit, the pivot of its openings, the key to what

    the flutter of the worlds has shut against me.

  24. رَحْبُ الذِّراعِ هِزَبْرُ كلِّ مُلِمَّةٍ

    عَجَلاً برغْمِ زَمانِنا المُتَواني

    Broad of arm, a lion against every calamity,

    swift, despite our laggard age.

  25. غوْثُ البَسيطَةِ شيخُ كلِّ مُوَحِّدٍ

    سيفُ الشَّريعَةِ ناصِرُ القُرآنِ

    Succor of the earth, master of every believer in the One,

    sword of the sacred law, champion of the Quran.

  26. ذُخري أَبو العَبَّاسِ أَحمدُ من سَما

    شَرَفاً وفاقَ برِقَّةٍ ومَعَانِ

    My treasure is Abu al-Abbas Ahmad, who rose

    in honor and excelled in tenderness and meanings.

  27. وأَنا ابْنُ صَيَّادِ القُلُوبِ فتَى الغُيو

    بِ أَخي التَّدَلِّي راجِحِ الميزَانِ

    And I am the son of the hunter of hearts, the youth of

    the unseen, companion of descent, weighty in the balance.

  28. وأَنا ابْنُ قومٍ من عَناصِرِ أَحمدٍ

    في الأُنسِ شادوا مظهَراً والجَانِ

    And I am the son of a people formed from Ahmad's elements,

    who raised a manifestation among humankind and jinn.

  29. قومٌ يُثيرونَ العَقَنْقَلَ في الوَغى

    لو ثاقَلَتْهُمْ عندَهُ الثَّقَلانِ

    A people who stir up the mighty sand-heaps in battle,

    even if the two weighty kinds pressed heavily upon them there.

  30. بيتُ النُّبوَّةِ والفُتوَّةِ والهُدى

    ووِعاءُ معْنى المشرَبِ الرُّوحاني

    The house of prophethood, chivalry, and guidance,

    and the vessel of the spiritual draught's meaning.

  31. وأَنا بحمدِ اللهِ عِقْدُ نِظامِهِمْ

    شيخُ العُرَيْجا أَحمدٌ رَبَّاني

    And I, praise be to God, am the necklace of their order,

    the master of al-Urayja, Ahmad, godly.

  32. والمُصْطَفى سِرُّ الوُجودِ محمَّدٌ

    بُرْدَ السَّعادَةِ والقَبولُ كَساني

    And the Chosen One, the secret of existence, Muhammad,

    clothed me in the mantle of happiness and acceptance.

  33. أَنا في أُولي العَلياءِ قطبُ رَحى الهُدَى

    ومترجِمُ التَّبيَانِ ضمنَ بَياني

    Among those of loftiest rank, I am the axis of guidance's mill,

    and the interpreter of elucidation within my speech.

  34. قلبي نَميطَةُ كلِّ علمٍ في الوَرَى

    وعليه يشهَدُ لي بَديعُ لِساني

    My heart is a chest for every science among mankind,

    and the marvel of my tongue bears witness to this for me.

  35. أَنا حسرَةُ الأَعداءِ طولَ زمانِهِمْ

    أَنا فرحَةُ الإِخْوانِ والخُلاَّنِ

    I am the enemies' grief throughout their days;

    I am the joy of brothers and dear friends.

  36. اللهُ أيَّدَني وأَعلى مظهَري

    وأقامَني رُوحاً لِذي الإِذْعَانِ

    God has strengthened me and exalted my manifestation,

    and established me as a spirit for the one who submits.

  37. من كانَ فيهِ منَ النَّبِيِّ بقيَّةٌ

    لا بُدَّ يتبَعُ منهَجي ويَراني

    Whoever has within him a remnant of the Prophet

    must follow my path and see me.

  38. إنْ فاتَهُ مَرْآيَ لم يُقْطَعْ به

    حَبْلي وينهَلُ سكْرَتي مِنْ حاني

    If he misses the sight of me, there is no severing

    of my cord with him; he drinks my intoxication from my tavern.

  39. أَنا للطَّريقِ الأَحمَدِيِّ مُجَدِّدٌ

    ولنَهْجِ طَهَ المُصْطَفى العَدْنَانِي

    I am a renewer of the Ahmadian path

    and of the way of Taha, the Chosen One, the Adnanite.

  40. أَنا واحِدُ الأَفرادِ فيَّاضُ العَطا

    من دونِ ذَيْلي صاحِبُ الإِيوَانِ

    I am the unique one among the singular ones, overflowing in giving;

    beneath my hem is the lord of the vaulted hall.

  41. أَنا مُتْرِعٌ رَحبَ القُلُوبِ بهمَّةٍ

    تَحمي حِماها من غَطيطِ الرَّانِ

    I fill the spacious expanse of hearts with a spiritual resolve

    that guards their sanctuary from the snoring of rust.

  42. أَنا نائِبُ المُخْتارِ في أَهلِ الحِمى

    الوقتُ وقْتي والزَّمانُ زَماني

    I am the Chosen One's deputy among the people of the sanctuary;

    the moment is my moment, and the age my age.

  43. أَمرُ النَّبيِّ بَثَثْتُهُ بقَصيدَتي

    معْنى الخَفا من حضرَةِ الرَّحمنِ

    The Prophet's command I have spread through my ode,

    the meaning of concealment from the presence of the All-Merciful.

  44. الهاشِمِيُّ مع الخَفاءِ أَقامَني

    واللهُ في جَبَروتِهِ أَعْلاني

    The Hashimite established me amid concealment,

    and God, in His realm of might, exalted me.

  45. فإذا طُويتُ بمَرْقَدي فلِفَرْقَدي

    يبدو الظُّهورُ البَحْتُ في الأَكوَانِ

    So when I am folded away in my resting-place, my Farqad star

    will shine forth in pure manifestation throughout the worlds.

  46. أَنا آلَةٌ واللهُ قُدِّسَ فاعِلٌ

    سبحانَ من في علمِهِ أَعْطاني

    I am an instrument, and God—hallowed be He—is the doer.

    Glory to Him who, in His knowledge, has given to me.

  47. دارَتْ كُؤوسي في الوُجودِ جميعِهِ

    تُجْلى لتدفَعَ زفرَةَ البُهْتَانِ

    My cups have circulated throughout all existence,

    brought forth to repel the sigh of calumny.

  48. حكَّاكَةٌ سِرَّ القُلُوبِ بخمرِها

    تُبدي الضَّمائرَ من ذوي الكِتْمَانِ

    They scour the secret of hearts with their wine,

    revealing the inner thoughts of those who conceal them.

  49. فالحظُّ في معنى رَقائقِ دَوْرِها

    يبدو عياناً ظاهِرَ العُنْوَانِ

    Thus one's share in the meaning of their round's subtleties

    appears openly, with its sign plain.

  50. ما في مَشارِبِنا وحالِ طَريقِنا

    دَنَسٌ من الدُّنيا بأَحقَرِ شَانِ

    In our drinking-places and the state of our path there is

    no stain of this world, not even in the slightest matter.

  51. سيرٌ إلى اللهِ الكَريمِ مُؤيَّدٌ

    ما فيهِ من زَيْغٍ ولا بُطلانِ

    A divinely supported journey toward God, the Generous,

    with no deviation or falsehood in it.

  52. نهضَتْ به رُوحُ النُّبوَّةِ وانْطَوَتْ

    في همَّتي ففَزِعْتُ للرًّحمنِ

    The spirit of prophethood rose with it and folded itself

    into my resolve; then I sought refuge in the All-Merciful.

  53. ونزَعْتُ عن كلِّ الوُجودِ عَلائِقي

    وطرَحْتُ رُمحي مُقْلِعاً وسِناني

    And I stripped my attachments from all existence,

    and cast aside my lance and spearhead, renouncing them.

  54. فاخْتارَني حِبِّي لخدمَةِ قُدْسِهِ

    وبفَيْضِ أَنواعِ القَبولِ حَباني

    Then my Beloved chose me to serve His holiness,

    and favored me with an outpouring of forms of acceptance.

  55. وأعزَّني وأَقامَ لي في بابِهِ

    مجداً وباللُّطْفِ الخَفي حَيَّاني

    And He honored me and established for me at His door

    glory, and greeted me with hidden grace.

  56. وأَفاضَ لي أُنْساً هجَرْتُ لأجلِهِ

    كَوْنِيَّتي وبباطِني ناجاني

    And He poured intimacy upon me, for which I abandoned

    my creaturely being, and communed with me in my inward self.

  57. وعُرِفْتُ في الحَضَراتِ فرداً واحِداً

    متَمَكِّناً في منهَجِ العِرْفانِ

    And I was known in the presences as one singular individual,

    firmly established in the path of gnosis.

  58. ودُعيتُ بينَ الأَولياءِ أُولي الهُدَى

    في حضرَةِ التَّقريبِ بالسُّلْطَانِ

    And among the saints endowed with guidance I was called,

    in the presence of nearness, "the Sultan."

  59. تلكَ المَشاهِدُ والمَعارِجُ نفحَةٌ

    من قلبِ طَهَ رُوحِ أهلِ الشَّانِ

    Those visions and ascents are a breath

    from the heart of Taha, the spirit of those of exalted station.

  60. أَنا شيخُها ضمنَ الخَفاءِ بروْنَقٍ

    لا بُدَّ يَجْلو ظاهِراً ميداني

    I am their master within concealment, with splendor;

    my field must shine forth openly.

  61. ويُدَقُّ بالإِرْشادِ طبلُ مَعارِفي

    في الخافِقَيْنِ برغْمِ أنفِ الشَّاني

    And through guidance the drum of my spiritual insights is beaten

    across the two horizons, to the humbling of the hater's nose.

  62. وتَجولُ نُوَّابي بمُلْكِ اللهِ لل

    إرْشادِ لا لمَقاصِدٍ وأمَاني

    And my deputies roam God's dominion for

    guidance, not for aims or wishes.

  63. يتجَرَّدونَ له لنُصرَةِ دينِهِ

    ذُهلاً عن الأَرواحِ والأَبدَانِ

    They devote themselves to Him to champion His religion,

    heedless of souls and bodies.

  64. واللهُ يُسْعِفُهُمْ بحالٍ باهِرٍ

    وبِهِمْ يُعِزُّ حَقائِقَ الإِيمَانِ

    And God aids them with a dazzling spiritual state,

    and through them strengthens the realities of faith.

  65. للهِ حَيَّى على الفَلاحِ فإنَّني

    أَعلنْتُ من طيِّ الخَفا بأَذاني

    For God's sake, come to success! For I

    have proclaimed from concealment's folds with my call to prayer.

  66. فانْهضْ بعزْمِكَ أيُّها المَقْصودُ من

    هذا الخِطابِ بثابِتِ الإِيقَانِ

    So arise with your resolve, you who are addressed by

    this discourse, with steadfast certainty.

  67. ثمَّ اسْتَعِنْ باللهِ وارْضَ بعونِهِ

    حِصْناً عن الأَنْصارِ والأَعْوَانِ

    Then seek God's help, and be content with His aid

    as a fortress in place of supporters and helpers.
