قف أيُّها المفتون فينا واتَّئد

أحرقت نفسك يا جهول بنار

Stop, O you who are deluded about us, and proceed with care.

Stop, O you who are infatuated with us, and settle down,

You have burned yourself, O ignorant one, with fire.

You have burned yourself, O ignorant one, with fire.

أتريد أن تطوي المناشير التي

أتريد أن تطوي المناشير التي

نشرت لرفعتنا بأمر الباري

نشرت لرفعتنا بأمر الباري

Do you wish to fold up the proclamations that

Do you want to fold the saws that

Were unfurled for our exaltation at the Creator's command?

Were deployed for our elevation by the command of the Maker?

هيهات أنت على شفا جرفٍ فمل

هيهات أنت على شفا جرفٍ فمل

للحق وارهب صدمة القهار

للحق وارهب صدمة القهار

Far from it! You are on a precipice's brink; turn

Never! You are on the brink of an abyss, so beware

Toward the truth, and fear the blow of the All-Subduer.

Of the truth and fear the blow of the Almighty.

واحفظ بنا سرَّ الغيوب فإننا

واحفظ بنا سرَّ الغيوب فإننا

من فوق وهمك أهل سرٍ ساري

من فوق وهمك أهل سرٍ ساري

And through us guard the secret of unseen things, for we

And keep our hidden secret, for we

Are, beyond your imagining, bearers of a pervading secret.

Are, above your illusion, people of an ongoing mystery.

كتبت بطاقة سعدنا غيباً على

كتبت بطاقة سعدنا غيباً على

رقِّ العناية قبل ذي الآثار

رقِّ العناية قبل ذي الآثار

The writ of our good fortune was inscribed in the unseen upon

The card of our happiness was written secretly on

The parchment of providence, before these traces.

The parchment of Providence before the one with traces.

قلم الإله اجاد شكلة حرفها

قلم الإله اجاد شكلة حرفها

فسرت بنسج مواهب الجبارِ

فسرت بنسج مواهب الجبارِ

God's pen perfected the marking of its letter;

The pen of God gracefully created its letters,

And it coursed through the weave of the All-Compelling's gifts.

So it flowed with weaving the talents of the Compeller.

هتفت به الأملاك في رفف العلى

هتفت به الأملاك في رفف العلى

وتنزَّلت بالعز للمختارِ

وتنزَّلت بالعز للمختارِ

The angels cried out in its praise in the tiers on high,

The angels acclaimed it in the shelves of the Highest,

And descended with glory to the Chosen One.

And it descended with glory for the Chosen One.

وبنا انجلت من واحدِ عن واحدٍ

وبنا انجلت من واحدِ عن واحدٍ

حتى البطين الأنزع الكرار

حتى البطين الأنزع الكرار

And through us it was revealed, from one through another,

And through the One, from the One, we shone,

As far as the large-bellied, bald-browed, ever-charging one.

To the purest, most faithful core.

فالغوث منا والمواهب بحرها

فالغوث منا والمواهب بحرها

أبداً لنا بطوى السعادة جاري

أبداً لنا بطوى السعادة جاري

So the Ghawth is one of us, and the sea of gifts

So salvation is from us, and the sea of talents

Flows forever for us in the Tuwa of felicity.

Is always flowing for us at the furthest happiness.

صح كيف شئت فأنت لقمة بطشنا

صح كيف شئت فأنت لقمة بطشنا

واخسأ فأنت معاند الأقدار

واخسأ فأنت معاند الأقدار

Shout however you wish, for you are a morsel for our fierce grasp.

Think whatever you want, for you are a morsel for our grip,

And slink away, for you defy the decrees of fate.

And disobey, for you oppose fate.

ولنحن آل محمَّدٍ من فاطمٍ

ولنحن آل محمَّدٍ من فاطمٍ

أهلُ القولب وأهل عقبى الدار

أهلُ القولب وأهل عقبى الدار

And indeed we are Muhammad's family, through Fatimah,

While we are the family of Muhammad, from Fatima,

People of hearts [uncertain reading], and people of the final abode.

The people of legacy, and people of the abode of eternity.
