الحمدُ للهِ لي للمُصْطَفى نَسَبٌ

الحمدُ للهِ لي للمُصْطَفى نَسَبٌ

مُنَزَّهُ الشَّأنِ عن قالٍ وعن قيلِ

مُنَزَّهُ الشَّأنِ عن قالٍ وعن قيلِ

Praise be to God: I have a lineage to the Chosen One,

Praise be to Allah, I belong to the lineage of Al-Mustafa

Its standing untainted by gossip and hearsay.

Of noble character, above saying and speech

عَلا به جَدُّنا الصَّيَّادُ فارتفَعَتْ

عَلا به جَدُّنا الصَّيَّادُ فارتفَعَتْ

له مَنابِرُ إجْلالٍ وتَفْضيلِ

له مَنابِرُ إجْلالٍ وتَفْضيلِ

Through it our forefather al-Sayyad rose, and there arose

Through him our grandfather the fisherman was exalted

For him pulpits of reverence and distinction.

Pulpits of veneration and preference were raised for him

سَمَتْ به لأَبي العَبَّاسِ حابِكَةٌ

سَمَتْ به لأَبي العَبَّاسِ حابِكَةٌ

جادَتْ بسيفٍ من البُرْهانِ مَصْقولِ

جادَتْ بسيفٍ من البُرْهانِ مَصْقولِ

Through it, a tightly woven bond to Abu al-Abbas rose high,

With him a protective covering was placed over Abul Abbas

Bestowing a polished sword of proof—

It came forth with a sword of evidence well-polished

أبُوَّةٌ أيَّدَ الرَّحمنُ رتبَتَها

أبُوَّةٌ أيَّدَ الرَّحمنُ رتبَتَها

بنورِ صدقٍ بعينِ اللهِ مَشْمولِ

بنورِ صدقٍ بعينِ اللهِ مَشْمولِ

A paternal lineage whose rank the All-Merciful upheld

A fatherhood which Ar-Rahman confirmed its status

With a light of truth sheltered under God's watchful eye.

With the light of truthfulness enveloped by the eye of Allah

قامَ الرِّفاعِيُّ في أوْساطِها قَمَراً

قامَ الرِّفاعِيُّ في أوْساطِها قَمَراً

يجلو المَعاني بإجْمالٍ وتَفْصيلِ

يجلو المَعاني بإجْمالٍ وتَفْصيلِ

Al-Rifa'i stood in its midst as a moon,

Al-Rifa'i stood among them as a shining moon

Illuminating meanings, in summary and in detail.

Clarifying meanings with brevity and elaboration

وقمتُ عنهُ بمنْهاجِ البُنُوَّةِ في

وقمتُ عنهُ بمنْهاجِ البُنُوَّةِ في

طَوْرٍ ترفَّعَ عن حرفٍ وتبديلِ

طَوْرٍ ترفَّعَ عن حرفٍ وتبديلِ

And I arose from him along the path of sonship, in

And I stood by his curriculum of sonship

A station exalted above distortion and alteration.

At a rank elevated above letters and changes

ولي أُصولٌ تَسامَتْ في مَعارِجِها

ولي أُصولٌ تَسامَتْ في مَعارِجِها

بكلِّ فحلٍ شَريفِ الأصلِ بُهْلولِ

بكلِّ فحلٍ شَريفِ الأصلِ بُهْلولِ

And I have roots that rose high in their ascents,

And I have origins that rose in their steps

Through every stalwart of noble stock, a generous lord.

With every noble-born stalwart of pure descent

عرقُ الأُمومَةِ للأسْتاذِ يرفعُني

عرقُ الأُمومَةِ للأسْتاذِ يرفعُني

أَبي الخَوارِقِ عبد القادرِ الجيلي

أَبي الخَوارِقِ عبد القادرِ الجيلي

My maternal bloodline raises me to the master,

The lineage of professorship to my father raises me

Father of Wonders, Abd al-Qadir al-Jili,

My father the marvels, Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani

قطبِ الرِّجالِ رئيسِ العارِفينَ ومن

قطبِ الرِّجالِ رئيسِ العارِفينَ ومن

يُعزى له الحالُ مشْفوعاً بتَبْجيلِ

يُعزى له الحالُ مشْفوعاً بتَبْجيلِ

Spiritual pole of men, chief of the knowers of God, and he to whom

The axis of men, the chief of the gnostics, the one

The spiritual state is ascribed, accompanied by veneration.

To whom the state is attributed accompanied with veneration

من آلِ بيتٍ كِرامٍ مسكُ سيرَتِهِمْ

من آلِ بيتٍ كِرامٍ مسكُ سيرَتِهِمْ

يَفوحُ في النَّاس من جيلٍ إلى جيلِ

يَفوحُ في النَّاس من جيلٍ إلى جيلِ

Of a noble household, the musk of whose conduct

From the family of honorable nobility whose way of life

Wafts among people from generation to generation.

Spreads fine fragrance among people from generation to generation

إلى العَواتِكِ قدْ أدْلَتْهُ سِلسِلَةٌ

إلى العَواتِكِ قدْ أدْلَتْهُ سِلسِلَةٌ

بكلِّ عِقدٍ بحبلِ اللهِ مَوْصولِ

بكلِّ عِقدٍ بحبلِ اللهِ مَوْصولِ

A chain has indeed linked him to the Awatik,

To the high minarets, a chain guided him

With every necklace joined to the rope of God.

With every link joined by Allah's rope

وبعدَ هذا وهذا تمَّ لي شَرَفي

وبعدَ هذا وهذا تمَّ لي شَرَفي

وحقَّقَ اللهُ بالمُخْتارِ مأمولي

وحقَّقَ اللهُ بالمُخْتارِ مأمولي

And after this and this, my honor was complete,

And after this and that, my nobility was completed

And God, through the Chosen One, fulfilled my hope.

And Allah fulfilled my hopes through the Chosen One
