أفيضوا لنا يا أَهْلَ أُمِّ عَبيدَةٍ

أفيضوا لنا يا أَهْلَ أُمِّ عَبيدَةٍ

فُيوضَ اليَدِ البيضاءِ واغْتَنِموا الأجْرا

فُيوضَ اليَدِ البيضاءِ واغْتَنِموا الأجْرا

Pour forth for us, O people of Umm ʿAbīda,

Pour forth upon us, O people of Umm 'Ubaydah

the outpourings of the white, generous hand, and gain the reward.

The outpouring of the generous hand, and seize the reward

ولا تَقْطَعوا عَنَّا حِبالَ نَوالِكُمْ

ولا تَقْطَعوا عَنَّا حِبالَ نَوالِكُمْ

فَساحَتكُمْ في الحَضرَةِ السَّاحَةُ الكُبرى

فَساحَتكُمْ في الحَضرَةِ السَّاحَةُ الكُبرى

And do not sever from us the cords of your bounty,

And do not cut us off from the cords of your bounty

for your courtyard is the greatest courtyard in the Presence.

For your open-handedness is in this abode the greatest plain

عَشِقْنا مَعانيكُمْ وهِمْنا بِحُبِّكُمْ

عَشِقْنا مَعانيكُمْ وهِمْنا بِحُبِّكُمْ

وطِبْنا بِكمْ سِرًّا وذُبْنا لكم جَهْرا

وطِبْنا بِكمْ سِرًّا وذُبْنا لكم جَهْرا

We loved your inner meanings and were lost in love for you,

We loved your meanings, and fancied loving you

and through you we found joy in secret, and melted for you openly.

We delighted in you secretly, and yearned for you openly

وقد غَلَبَتْنا الصَّادِعاتُ من الهَوَى

وقد غَلَبَتْنا الصَّادِعاتُ من الهَوَى

وَوجْداً ذَهِلْنا فارْحَموا واقْبَلوا العُذْرا

وَوجْداً ذَهِلْنا فارْحَموا واقْبَلوا العُذْرا

And the shattering pangs of love have overwhelmed us,

And impassioned ones of desire have overwhelmed us

and we were dazed with longing; so have mercy and accept our excuse.

In burning longing, so have mercy and accept our excuse

فيا حَيْرَةَ الأحبابِ عُشَّاقُ حالِكُمْ

فيا حَيْرَةَ الأحبابِ عُشَّاقُ حالِكُمْ

قد اسْتَعْذَبَتْ من لَهْفِها الطَّيَّ والنَّشْرا

قد اسْتَعْذَبَتْ من لَهْفِها الطَّيَّ والنَّشْرا

Ah, the bewilderment of the loved ones, lovers of your spiritual state!

O bewilderment of loved ones, lovers of your state

In their yearning, they have found folding and unfolding sweet.

Sweetened by its ardor the wind and the downpour

تَئِنُّ لكم أنَّ اللَّديغِ وطَرْفُها

تَئِنُّ لكم أنَّ اللَّديغِ وطَرْفُها

لِمَنْظومِ دُرِّ الدَّمْعِ قد أحْسَنَ النَّثْرا

لِمَنْظومِ دُرِّ الدَّمْعِ قد أحْسَنَ النَّثْرا

They groan for you like one stung, and their gaze

It moans for you that the afflicted one, and her eyelash

has excelled at scattering the strung pearls of tears.

Has excellently scattered the prose of flowing tears

بِلُطفِ مَعانيكُمْ وسِرِّ شٌؤونِكُمْ

بِلُطفِ مَعانيكُمْ وسِرِّ شٌؤونِكُمْ

وحالٍ به عَطَّرْتُمْ البَرَّ والبَحرا

وحالٍ به عَطَّرْتُمْ البَرَّ والبَحرا

By the subtle grace of your inner meanings and the mystery of your affairs,

With the gentleness of your meanings, and the secrecy of your affairs

and by a spiritual state through which you perfumed land and sea,

With a state that perfumed the land and the sea

بآياتِكُمْ والوارداتِ التي انْجَلَتْ

بآياتِكُمْ والوارداتِ التي انْجَلَتْ

بها ثمََّّ راحَتْ في قِبابِ العُلى تُقْرا

بها ثمََّّ راحَتْ في قِبابِ العُلى تُقْرا

by your signs and the spiritual inspirations that became manifest

With your signs, and the descending ones that

through them, then went forth to be recited in the domes of the heights,

Recited then rested in the domes on high

بأيَّامكُمْ والخارِقاتِ التي بها ان

بأيَّامكُمْ والخارِقاتِ التي بها ان

طَوَتْ ولَيالٍ قد جَلَوْتُمْ بها الفَجْرا

طَوَتْ ولَيالٍ قد جَلَوْتُمْ بها الفَجْرا

by your days and the miracles that within them were

With your days, and the transcendent ones with which

enfolded, and by nights in which you unveiled the dawn,

You spanned nights whose dawn you made radiant

بِمَجْلى مَعاني خَلْوةٍ ضمنَ جَلْوَةٍ

بِمَجْلى مَعاني خَلْوةٍ ضمنَ جَلْوَةٍ

لكُمْ دونَها الدُّنيا النَّضيرةُ والأُخرى

لكُمْ دونَها الدُّنيا النَّضيرةُ والأُخرى

by the manifestation of the meanings of seclusion within public presence,

With the sitting place of meanings in a secluded intimacy

yours, beneath which lie this flourishing world and the hereafter—

For you, apart from it, are the lovely world and the next

أعيدوا لنا عاداتِ هَطَّالِ فَيْضِكُمْ

أعيدوا لنا عاداتِ هَطَّالِ فَيْضِكُمْ

ومُنُّوا بِتَحقيقِ المُنى واجْبُروا الكَسرا

ومُنُّوا بِتَحقيقِ المُنى واجْبُروا الكَسرا

restore to us the accustomed showers of your overflowing bounty,

Restore for us the outpouring customs of your bounty

and graciously grant the fulfillment of our wishes, and mend the fracture.

And favor with fulfilling wishes, and mend the rupture
