أسكرت أهل الوحا خمرتنا

وعلت كبارهم رتبتنا

وعلت كبارهم رتبتنا

Our wine has intoxicated the people of inspiration.

Our wine has intoxicated the people of spiritual discovery,

And our rank has surpassed their great ones.

And raised our rank above their great ones.

مرجعُ السادات اعيان الحمى

مرجعُ السادات اعيان الحمى

اين ما راموا السرى حضرتنا

اين ما راموا السرى حضرتنا

The refuge of the masters, the sanctuary's notables,

The refuge of chieftains, the notables of the tribe,

Wherever they seek to travel by night, is our presence.

Wherever they desired to journey secretly, our presence graced it.

ترعب الآسادُ في الغابات من

ترعب الآسادُ في الغابات من

خادمٍ حفَّت به نفحتنا

خادمٍ حفَّت به نفحتنا

The lions in the forests tremble before

The lions are frightened of us in the forests because of

A servant enfolded by our fragrant breath.

A servant escorted by our breath’s scent.

ولقد تبردُ نيران الغضا

ولقد تبردُ نيران الغضا

وهي في شبَّتِها رمشتنا

وهي في شبَّتِها رمشتنا

And indeed, the fires of ghada wood are cooled,

And the fires of war grow cold

Even as they blaze, by our blink.

When our glance fans them in their raging.

ولكم فادحةٍ قادحةٍ

ولكم فادحةٍ قادحةٍ

غلبت صولتها صولتنا

غلبت صولتها صولتنا

And how many a grievous, destructive calamity

And how shocking and startling

Has had its onslaught overcome by ours!

Is our might which overcomes their might!

خضعت عن رفعةٍ انفسنا

خضعت عن رفعةٍ انفسنا

وإلى الهادي علت نسبتنا

وإلى الهادي علت نسبتنا

Our souls have bowed from a lofty station,

We have humbled ourselves from the loftiness of our souls,

And our lineage has risen to the Guide.

And to the Guide we have raised our lineage.

وبمولانا سما مظهرناذ

وبمولانا سما مظهرناذ

وله قد خلصت نيَّتنا

وله قد خلصت نيَّتنا

And through our master our manifestation rose high,

And through our Master our appearance has soared,

And our intention has become pure for him.

And to him alone our intention is sincere.

وبماءِ السعدِ من معدنها

وبماءِ السعدِ من معدنها

جبلت في غيبها طينتنا

جبلت في غيبها طينتنا

And with the water of felicity, from its source,

And with the water of good fortune from his spring

Our clay was kneaded in its hidden state.

Our clay was kneaded in its unseen realm.

راحَ يمحونا حسودٌ واهمٌ

راحَ يمحونا حسودٌ واهمٌ

ويدُ الله مضت تثبتنا

ويدُ الله مضت تثبتنا

A deluded envier set about erasing us,

The envious and deluded try to erase us,

And God's hand went on making us firm.

But God’s hand continues to make us firm.

وخيال الحب إذ يقطعنا

وخيال الحب إذ يقطعنا

عزمُ روح المصطفى ينبتنا

عزمُ روح المصطفى ينبتنا

And when love's phantom cuts us down,

And when the specter of love cuts us off,

The resolve of the Chosen One's spirit makes us sprout.

The resolve of the Prophet’s spirit revives us.

لألأت في عين يافوخ العلى

لألأت في عين يافوخ العلى

لأساطين الحمى حكمتنا

لأساطين الحمى حكمتنا

At the very crown of the heights sparkled

My banners have waved before the eyes of the eminent,

Our wisdom, for the pillars of the sanctuary.

The pillars of the tribe, because of our wisdom.

وانجلت في الكون قطبيَّتنا

وانجلت في الكون قطبيَّتنا

وسمت في الملك غوثيتنا

وسمت في الملك غوثيتنا

And our station as the Pole became manifest in the cosmos,

And our spiritual axis has shone throughout creation,

And our station as the Helper rose high in the realm.

And our sainthood has marked the kingdom.

وعلى أنجاب ارباب الوحا

وعلى أنجاب ارباب الوحا

بالرفاعي علت رفعتنا

بالرفاعي علت رفعتنا

And above the noblest masters of inspiration,

And over the descendants of the lords of spiritual discovery,

Through al-Rifa‘i our eminence rose.

Through the Most Distinguished, our prestige is exalted.

كم رفعنا خاملاً من وهدةٍ

كم رفعنا خاملاً من وهدةٍ

وأغاثت خائفاً نجدتنا

وأغاثت خائفاً نجدتنا

How many an obscure person we have raised from a hollow,

How often we have raised one dispirited by lethargy,

And our aid has rescued a frightened person.

And our help has relieved one fearful.

وبجوف البحر كم قد أنقذت

وبجوف البحر كم قد أنقذت

غارقاً في لجَّةِ غوثتنا

غارقاً في لجَّةِ غوثتنا

And in the sea's belly, how many have been saved,

And in the open sea, how many times has

Drowning in the deep, by our succor!

A drowner in deep water been saved by our aid!

نحنُ بالفقر إلى الله وبال

نحنُ بالفقر إلى الله وبال

هجر للدنيا بدت دولتنا

هجر للدنيا بدت دولتنا

As for us, through poverty before God and through

Through poverty toward God, and tribulation,

Forsaking the world, our sovereignty appeared.

Our worldly fortune has appeared.

قبل إبراز الورى سيرتنا

قبل إبراز الورى سيرتنا

In the folds of the tablets of the primordial cloud was written

Our life story was written on the tablets of the blind,

Our story, before created beings were brought forth.

Before the appearance of humankind.

كم وكم من وصبٍ قد ابرأت

كم وكم من وصبٍ قد ابرأت

داءَ صبٍّ ناحلٍ تفلتنا

داءَ صبٍّ ناحلٍ تفلتنا

How many, many an affliction has been cured—

How many wasting sicknesses has our medicine cured,

An emaciated lover's illness—by our spittle!

Diseases wasting the bodies of the afflicted!

عاجزٌ تسعفهُ لحظتنا

عاجزٌ تسعفهُ لحظتنا

Good fortune spreads a veil over him—

Good fortune spreads a mantle over them,

A helpless person whom our glance aids.

While our glance gives succor to the helpless.

لم يخفف في الدهر كرباً مزعجاً

لم يخفف في الدهر كرباً مزعجاً

من تكن تلحظُهُ همَّتنا

من تكن تلحظُهُ همَّتنا

Through the ages, no distressing anguish has been eased

No distressing trouble has been lightened in time

By anyone whom our spiritual resolve watches over.

Unless our care took note of it.
