يا فُؤادي أنتَ غائِب

يا فُؤادي أنتَ غائِب

حاضِرٌ بينَ الحَبائبْ

حاضِرٌ بينَ الحَبائبْ

O my heart, you are absent,

O my heart, you are absent

Present among the beloved.

Yet present among the loved ones

قمتَ بالضِّدَّينِ تزهُو

قمتَ بالضِّدَّينِ تزهُو

هذه بعضُ العَجائِبْ

هذه بعضُ العَجائِبْ

You embody both opposites, exulting;

You have taken to opposites, exulting

This is one of the wonders.

Such are some wonders

أنتَ مطلوبٌ ولكنْ

أنتَ مطلوبٌ ولكنْ

في طريقِ الحُبِّ طالِبْ

في طريقِ الحُبِّ طالِبْ

You are sought, and yet

You are sought but

On the path of love, a seeker.

On the path of love, a seeker

فاعْمَ دهراً عن سِواهُمْ

فاعْمَ دهراً عن سِواهُمْ

ولهمْ ما عِشْتَ راقِبْ

ولهمْ ما عِشْتَ راقِبْ

So be forever blind to all but them,

So shun others for an age

And keep watch for them as long as you live.

And for them, watch as long as you live

واقْصِرِ الأَمرَ عليهمْ

واقْصِرِ الأَمرَ عليهمْ

فبِهِمْ نيلُ المَواهِبْ

فبِهِمْ نيلُ المَواهِبْ

And confine the matter to them,

And focus on them alone

For through them gifts are attained.

For through them come gifts

كلُّ مَنْ لم يرْوِ عنهم

كلُّ مَنْ لم يرْوِ عنهم

هو في الدَّارَيْنِ كاذِبْ

هو في الدَّارَيْنِ كاذِبْ

Whoever has not narrated on their authority

All who speak not of them

Is a liar in both worlds.

In both worlds are liars
