بَرْقُ حَبيبي بَرَقا

بَرْقُ حَبيبي بَرَقا

ولِفُؤادي انْطَلَقا

ولِفُؤادي انْطَلَقا

My beloved's lightning flashed,

My beloved's lightning flashed

and sped toward my heart.

And set out towards my heart

أشارَ في مَضْمونِهِ

أشارَ في مَضْمونِهِ

للاتِّصالِ واللِّقا

للاتِّصالِ واللِّقا

In its message, it pointed

Its content hinted

to union and meeting.

At meeting and encounter

فَقامَ فيَّ نورُهُ

فَقامَ فيَّ نورُهُ

وفي جَميعي انْتَسَقا

وفي جَميعي انْتَسَقا

So its light arose within me,

So his light arose in me

and was harmoniously arrayed throughout my being.

And permeated all of me

ومَرَّ بالكأس على

ومَرَّ بالكأس على

روحي وللرُّوحِ سَقى

روحي وللرُّوحِ سَقى

And with the cup it passed over

It passed by the cup

my soul, and gave the soul drink.

To my soul, and gave drink to the soul

هُنا ارْتَقَيْتُ مَنْهَجاً

هُنا ارْتَقَيْتُ مَنْهَجاً

عَزَّ لَعَمري مُرْتَقى

عَزَّ لَعَمري مُرْتَقى

Here I ascended a path

That I struggled in life to ascend

hard, by my life, to climb.

And I was annihilated in passion

وقد فَنيتُ في الهَوَى

وقد فَنيتُ في الهَوَى

إنَّ الفَنا عينُ البَقا

إنَّ الفَنا عينُ البَقا

And I have been annihilated in love;

For annihilation is the essence of eternity

indeed, annihilation is abiding itself.
