Mitkin is our Basra, and Ahmad is Ahmad.

We strive toward those lands and hasten.

If the honor of al-Bitah and its people has eluded us,

Mitkin is our Batha, and this is the sayyid.

This is the imam, Abu Ali Ahmad,

a spiritual pole for whom glory rises and sits.

For a year he remained enraptured in a single prostration,

and thus the noble offspring of the Fatimas prostrate.

This man's grandfather is Ahmad, Abu al-ʿAlamayn,

the one for whose presence the hand was extended in honor.

And riders carried word of it throughout all humankind,

with praises sung in every mountain pass.

If the envious man remains ignorant of them through his folly,

then God bears witness, and creation bears witness.

The shaykh of al-ʿUrayja, the people's exemplar, whose

    proof is confirmed by miracles.

And Sayyid al-Sayyad stood in his stead,

and the son of noble, lordly men is lordly indeed.

O shaykh of Mitkin, grant me your care, for I

am bound in fetters by the turmoil of existence.

I have come to your door, humble and restless,

and the bounty of one like you, O son of Ahmad, is awaited.

You came as imams in the house of the Hashimite,

from one sayyid, whom another follows in glory.

And your glory among the saints, by virtue of its grandeur,

is a pillar raised upon al-Simak's crown.

And you are indeed a master from whose long fingers

a sea has so often poured, foaming with miracles.

I have come to your spacious court, with tears that have already flowed

in a torrent, and a heart that trembles with awe.

    وطَريقَتي لك في البَرِيَّةِ تُسْنَدُ

    And you are indeed my grandfather—nay, the mainstay of my inner truth;

and my spiritual path is traced to you among humankind.

I am that child whom you have cared for,

and at every moment your hand of kindness rests upon him.

    وله بكُمْ متنُ الفَخارِ مُمَهَّدُ

    Mahdi of your great tree, and heir to your guidance;

and through you the ground of glory is made smooth for him.

So generously favor him by joining his cord,

for you indeed have signs that cannot be denied.

May mercies never cease to spread their musk

forever upon you, as long as a monotheist receives grace,

and encompass your sons and your fellowship,

so long as a disciple humbles himself and a guide teaches.
