قسماً بحبك وهو في دين الهوى

قسماً بحبك وهو في دين الهوى

قسمٌ لمن عرف المقام عظيمُ

قسمٌ لمن عرف المقام عظيمُ

I swear by your love—and in the faith of passion,

I swear by my love for you, though it contradicts devotion

it is a mighty oath to one who knows the station.

A solemn oath for one who knows the worth of this station

ما شاقني لولاك منعرج اللوى

ما شاقني لولاك منعرج اللوى

يوماً ولا هزَّ الفؤآد حطيم

يوماً ولا هزَّ الفؤآد حطيم

Without you, the bend of al-Liwā would not have stirred my longing

Had it not been for you, the path of passion wouldn't have plagued me

ever, nor would Ḥaṭīm have stirred my heart.

Nor would my heart have been shattered into pieces

لكن مغانٍ مسَّ نعلك تربها

لكن مغانٍ مسَّ نعلك تربها

هي عند عبدك حقُّها التعظيم

هي عند عبدك حقُّها التعظيم

But abodes whose soil your sandal has touched—

But the soil touched by your shoes is blessed

to your servant, their due is reverence.

To your servant it deserves utmost reverence
