فرحتُ بكم وطابَ لُبابُ قلبي

فرحتُ بكم وطابَ لُبابُ قلبي

بحالي حينَ كوكَبُكُمْ تَرَآى

بحالي حينَ كوكَبُكُمْ تَرَآى

I rejoiced in you, and my heart's core grew content

I rejoiced in you and my heart was delighted

With my state when your star came into view.

When your star was seen in my state

ومن عَجَبِ الشُؤُنِ لقد نسجْتُمْ

ومن عَجَبِ الشُؤُنِ لقد نسجْتُمْ

بنقطَةِ كلِّ بارِزَةٍ سَمَاءَ

بنقطَةِ كلِّ بارِزَةٍ سَمَاءَ

And among the wonders of affairs, you have indeed woven

And of the wonders of creation you wove

A sky from the dot of every manifest thing.

With each prominent dot, a heaven

ومِتُّ تلهُّفاً لمَّا توارَى

ومِتُّ تلهُّفاً لمَّا توارَى

سَناكُمْ لا عَدِمْتُ لكم سناءَ

سَناكُمْ لا عَدِمْتُ لكم سناءَ

And I died of longing when there vanished

And I die of yearning when you disappear

Your radiance—may I never lack your glory.

Never will I cease to extol your glory

فُؤادي مُجْمِرٌ والطَّرفُ شاتٍ

فُؤادي مُجْمِرٌ والطَّرفُ شاتٍ

نسَجْتُ بهَيْكَلي جَمْراً وماءَ

نسَجْتُ بهَيْكَلي جَمْراً وماءَ

My heart is a brazier, and my eye is wintry;

My heart is aflame and my eyes overflow

Within my bodily frame I wove embers and water.

I wove with my being embers and water

أَغِيثوني برؤيَتِكُمْ لأحْيى

أَغِيثوني برؤيَتِكُمْ لأحْيى

وأجعلَ ذا الفَناءَ بكم بقاءَ

وأجعلَ ذا الفَناءَ بكم بقاءَ

Save me with the sight of you, that I may live

Revive me with seeing you so I may live

And, through you, turn this annihilation into abiding existence.

And make this end through you continuance
