Dawn has risen, by my life,

And sleep’s brother is in his slumber.

They roused him; they awakened him.

The dawn of his day has passed him by.

Had he seen it, he would have been protected

By its light from the blinding force of his reproach.

And it revealed, in the meanings

Of his pilgrimage and fasting, wisdom.

The shaykh is like the Prophet, if you were to

Ascertain it, you there, among his people.
