وادٍ أَبو البَرَكاتِ يوماً يجتَلي

وادٍ أَبو البَرَكاتِ يوماً يجتَلي

كأسَ الظُّهورِ بمظهَرٍ لم يخْرَمِ

كأسَ الظُّهورِ بمظهَرٍ لم يخْرَمِ

Abu al-Barakat is a valley; one day he beholds

A valley, Abu al-Barakat, one day reveals

the cup of manifestation in an outward form left unbroken.

The cup of appearance in an unmatched form

إنِّي أَرى الشَّهْباءَ تكنِزُ عِقْدَهُ

إنِّي أَرى الشَّهْباءَ تكنِزُ عِقْدَهُ

في حضرةٍ فرْداً بغيرِ تنَظُّمِ

في حضرةٍ فرْداً بغيرِ تنَظُّمِ

Indeed, I see al-Shahba treasuring his necklace,

I see the stars hoard his necklace

in a Presence, alone, without being strung.

In a singular presence without order

فاحْفَظْ له عهدَ الوَلايَةِ إنَّه

فاحْفَظْ له عهدَ الوَلايَةِ إنَّه

برِحابِ سِرِّ الكَوْنِ أيُّ مكرَّمِ

برِحابِ سِرِّ الكَوْنِ أيُّ مكرَّمِ

So keep the covenant of sainthood for him; indeed, he

So keep for him the covenant of succession, he is

is so honored in the spacious courts of creation's mystery!

Among the secrets of existence, the most honorable

لا تَحْجُبَنْكَ شُؤوُنُهُ عن حالِهِ

لا تَحْجُبَنْكَ شُؤوُنُهُ عن حالِهِ

فالبدرُ يُستَرُ ضمنَ ليلٍ مُعْتِمِ

فالبدرُ يُستَرُ ضمنَ ليلٍ مُعْتِمِ

Do not let his affairs veil you from his spiritual state,

Let not his affairs veil you from his state

for the full moon is veiled within a dark night.

For the full moon is shrouded in a dark night

حكمُ الزَّمانِ أقامَهُ في رَوْنَقٍ

حكمُ الزَّمانِ أقامَهُ في رَوْنَقٍ

عقدَ الجَلالُ عَلَيْهِ عقدَةَ طِلْسَمِ

عقدَ الجَلالُ عَلَيْهِ عقدَةَ طِلْسَمِ

Time's decree has set him in splendor;

The judgment of time established him in splendor

Majesty has tied upon him the knot of a talisman.

Majesty bound him with an unbreakable seal

هو بينَ أَهلِ العصرِ أَكتَمُ واصِلٍ

هو بينَ أَهلِ العصرِ أَكتَمُ واصِلٍ

وبحضْرَةِ الإِقْبالِ خيرُ مُعَظَّمِ

وبحضْرَةِ الإِقْبالِ خيرُ مُعَظَّمِ

Among the people of the age, he is the most hidden of those who have attained union,

He is among the people of the age, the most perfect confidant

and in the presence of favor, the best of those revered.

And in the presence of destiny, the most revered

أَبُنيَّ خذْ آثارَ نفحَةِ قلبِهِ

أَبُنيَّ خذْ آثارَ نفحَةِ قلبِهِ

بتأَدُّبٍ واكْسَبْ رِضاهُ واغْنَمِ

بتأَدُّبٍ واكْسَبْ رِضاهُ واغْنَمِ

O my little son, take the traces of his heart's breath

My son, follow the traces of the breeze of his heart

with courtesy, and win his approval and profit.

With humility, and gain his pleasure and profit

واجْعلهُ واسطَةَ الشُّؤُنِ فحبلُهُ

واجْعلهُ واسطَةَ الشُّؤُنِ فحبلُهُ

عن رَبِّهِ أَمدَ المَدى لم يُفْصَمِ

عن رَبِّهِ أَمدَ المَدى لم يُفْصَمِ

And make him the intermediary in affairs, for his cord

And make him the mediator of affairs, for his rope

from his Lord has not been severed through the farthest reach.

To his Lord has no end

من نالَ منهُ دُعاءهُ بحياتِهِ

من نالَ منهُ دُعاءهُ بحياتِهِ

نَظَمَ القَبولَ عَلَيْهِ طِرْزَ تكرُّمِ

نَظَمَ القَبولَ عَلَيْهِ طِرْزَ تكرُّمِ

Whoever received his supplication from him during his lifetime

Whoever gets his prayer in his life

had acceptance arrayed upon him, an embroidery of gracious honor.

The acceptance will be confirmed on him as an honor

ومن اجْتَلى نورَ الهُدَى من قبرِهِ

ومن اجْتَلى نورَ الهُدَى من قبرِهِ

بصَحيحِ قلبٍ رُكْنُهُ لم يُهْدَمِ

بصَحيحِ قلبٍ رُكْنُهُ لم يُهْدَمِ

And whoever beheld the light of guidance from his grave

And whoever seeks the light of guidance from his grave

with a sound heart—his pillar has not been demolished.

With a sound heart, its refuge will not collapse

عَجَباً لمَفْتونِ الحِجابِ بوهْمِهِ

عَجَباً لمَفْتونِ الحِجابِ بوهْمِهِ

السِّرُّ في الأَرْواحِ لا في الأَعظُمِ

السِّرُّ في الأَرْواحِ لا في الأَعظُمِ

How strange is one beguiled by the veil through his own delusion!

Wondrous is the one spellbound by illusion

The secret lies in the spirits, not in the bones.

The secret is in the spirits, not in the bones
