Your servant congratulates you on the ten days and the month,

and on the feast—the Feast of Sacrifice—O king of the age.

And brings to your noble attention that he

stands firm in sincere devotion, in private and in public.

And here I am, praying to God for you always,

during the five prayers, and the even- and odd-numbered prayers.

And I hope that, if I live a while in your service,

your days will live on in fond remembrance.

And I earnestly hope that your generosity will embrace me

soon, in proportion to your concern, not my worth.

And indeed, if you grant me favors of your own,

then I am well able to offer prayers and thanks.

    تُعِزُّ بِها قَدري تُزيدُ بِها وَقري

    You strengthen my back with them, and through them my hand grows strong;

with them you exalt my standing; with them you increase my dignity.

Perhaps for what passed me by at life's beginning,

you yourself will compensate me at life's end.

And would that the lives of all people were a ransom for you,

and my life would be first among them, and my name the first to be mentioned.
