إِنَّ الرَضِيَّ الَّذي بُليتُ بِهِ

أَفعالُهُ الكُلُّ غَيرُ مَرضِيِّ

The one I suffer from

His deeds are all unpleasant

وَكُنتُ في شِدَّةٍ بِرُؤيَتِهِ

كَمُسلِمٍ في إِسارِ ذُمِّيِّ

And I was in great distress upon seeing him

Like a Muslim captive under an infidel

وَبَعدَ جَهدٍ خَلَصتُ مِن يَدِهِ

خَلاصَ عَظمٍ مِن كَفِّ تُركِيِّ

And after great effort I escaped his hand

A momentous escape from a Turk's grip
