قل للأُلى جعلوا الدُّستورَ مهزلةً

قل للأُلى جعلوا الدُّستورَ مهزلةً

الدّهرُ يضحكُ من دُستورِكم عجبا

الدّهرُ يضحكُ من دُستورِكم عجبا

Tell those who made the constitution a farce:

Tell the oppressors, you have made the constitution a joke,

Time laughs at your constitution in astonishment.

Time laughs wonderfully at your constitution,

شرُّ الذُّنوبِ لديكم أن يُقالَ لكم

شرُّ الذُّنوبِ لديكم أن يُقالَ لكم

كُفُّوا الأذى ودعوا التَّضليلَ والكَذِبا

كُفُّوا الأذى ودعوا التَّضليلَ والكَذِبا

The worst of sins, in your eyes, is to be told:

The worst sin for you is to be told,

Cease doing harm, and abandon deception and lies.

Stop harming and leave misleading and lying,

وأضعفُ الناسِ رأياً مَن يُهيب بكم

وأضعفُ الناسِ رأياً مَن يُهيب بكم

لا تتركوا النّيلَ في أيدي العِدَى سَلَبا

لا تتركوا النّيلَ في أيدي العِدَى سَلَبا

And the poorest in judgment is whoever appeals to you:

The weakest opinion is of those who implore you,

Do not leave the Nile as plunder in enemy hands.

Do not let the Nile remain in the hands of enemies to plunder,

الرُّشدُ إن تَتمادَوْا في غَوايتكم

الرُّشدُ إن تَتمادَوْا في غَوايتكم

والحقُّ أن تجعلوا للباطلِ الغَلبا

والحقُّ أن تجعلوا للباطلِ الغَلبا

It is wisdom if you persist in your waywardness,

Righteousness, if you persist in your misguidance,

And truth is to give falsehood the upper hand.

And the truth is that you make falsehood prevail,

أنحنُ أعداءُ مصرٍ فالبقاء لكم

أنحنُ أعداءُ مصرٍ فالبقاء لكم

إذا مضى عهدُنا في مِصرَ أو ذهبا

إذا مضى عهدُنا في مِصرَ أو ذهبا

Are we Egypt's enemies? Then may you live on,

Are we Egypt's enemies? Then survival is for you,

When our time in Egypt has passed or gone.

If our era in Egypt passes or goes away,

لا تطمعوا أن يُعزَّ اللهُ دَولتَكم

لا تطمعوا أن يُعزَّ اللهُ دَولتَكم

وإنْ تجاوزَ أدنى شأوِها الشُّهُبا

وإنْ تجاوزَ أدنى شأوِها الشُّهُبا

Do not hope that God will exalt your state,

Do not hope that God will honor your state,

Even if its lowest reach surpasses the shooting stars.

And if its lowest glory passes away,

كنتم صعاليكَ شَعبٍ جاهلٍ رَفعتْ

كنتم صعاليكَ شَعبٍ جاهلٍ رَفعتْ

أهواؤُه منكمُ الأقدارَ والرُّتَبا

أهواؤُه منكمُ الأقدارَ والرُّتَبا

You were paupers of an ignorant people; raised

You were gangsters of an ignorant people,

By its whims were your standing and ranks.

Their whims raised you in status and office,

تأهَّبوا إنّ أمرَ اللهِ مُنتظَرٌ

تأهَّبوا إنّ أمرَ اللهِ مُنتظَرٌ

وليس ينفعكم أن تأخذوا الأُهَبا

وليس ينفعكم أن تأخذوا الأُهَبا

Prepare yourselves: God's decree is awaited,

Prepare, God's command is awaited,

Nor will it help you to make preparations.

And it will not benefit you to take precautions,
