Sol 6.1

  1. هُوَ حَظّي قَد عَرَفتُهُ

    لَم يَحُل عَمّا عَهِدتُهُ

    It is my lot; I have come to know it.

    It has not changed from what I knew.

  2. فَإِذا قَصَّرَ مَن أَه

    واهُ في الوُدِّ عَذَرتُهُ

    So if the one I love falls short

    in affection, I excuse him.

  3. غَيرَ أَنَّ لِيَ في الحُب

    بِ طَريقاً قَد سَلَكتُهُ

    Yet in love I have

    a path that I have followed.

  4. لَو أَرادَ البُعدَ عَنّي

    نورُ عَينَي ماتَبِعتُهُ

    If he wished to part from me—

    the light of my eyes—I would not follow him.

  5. إِنَّ قَلبي لَو تَجَنّى

    وَهُوَ قَلبي ماصَحِبتُهُ

    Indeed, if my heart were to wrong me,

    though it is my heart, I would not keep its company.

  6. كُلُّ شَيءٍ مِن حَبيبي

    ما خَلا الغَدرَ اِحتَمَلتُهُ

    Everything from my beloved,

    except betrayal, I have borne.

  7. أَنا في الحُبِّ غَيورٌ

    ذاكَ خُلُقي لا عِدِمتُهُ

    I am jealous in love;

    that is my nature—may I never lose it.

  8. أُبصِرُ المَوتَ إِذا أَب

    صَرَ غَيري مَن عَشِقتُهُ

    I see death whenever

    another sees the one I adore.

  9. لَستُ سَمحاً بِوِدادي

    كُلُّ مَن نادى أَجَبتُهُ

    I am not so free with my affection

    that I answer everyone who calls.

  10. طالَما تِهتُ عَلى خا

    طِبِ وِدّي وَرَدَدتُهُ

    Often I have been haughty toward a suitor

    for my affection, and turned him away.

  11. قَد شَكَرتُ اللَهَ في

    ما كانَ مِنكُم وَحَمِدتُهُ

    I have thanked God for

    what came from you, and praised Him,

  12. حينَ خَلَّصتُ فُؤادي

    مِن يَدَيكُم وَمَلَكتُهُ

    when I freed my heart

    from your hands and made it mine.

  13. كانَ قَلبي مُستَريحاً

    مِن هَواكُم ما أَرَحتُهُ

    My heart was at peace,

    free of love for you while I let it rest.

  14. فَلَو أَنَّ القُربَ يُحيي

    نِيَ مِنكُم ما طَلبتُهُ

    So even if closeness to you could revive

    me, I would not seek it.
