1. فَدَيتُ مَن قَد أَنجَزَت وَعدَها

    وَجَدَّدَت في الحُبِّ لي عَهدَها

    I would give my life for her who has fulfilled her promise,

    And renewed her pledge to me in love.

  2. وَقَلَّدَتني في الهَوى مِنَّةً

    يا شُكرَها مِنّي وَيا حَمدَها

    And in passion has bestowed a favor upon me—

    Oh, how I thank her, and how I praise her!

  3. زائِرَةٌ لَم أَدرِ إِذ أَقبَلَت

    أَثَغرَها قَبَّلتُ أَم عِقدَها

    A visitor—when she came, I could not tell

    Whether I kissed her mouth or her necklace.

  4. تَمنَعُني تَقبيلَ أَقدامِها

    لَكِنَّها تَبذُلُ لي خَدَّها

    She prevents me from kissing her feet,

    But freely offers me her cheek.

  5. حَسناءُ في الحُسنِ لَها المُنتَهى

    لا قَبلَها فيهِ وَلا بَعدَها

    A beauty: hers is the utmost perfection of beauty;

    None before her in it, and none after her.

  6. تُقَصِّرُ الأَلسُنُ عَن وَصفِها

    لَو بالَغَت وَاِستَغرَقَت جُهدَها

    Tongues fall short of describing her,

    Even if they strove to the utmost and spent all their effort.

  7. إِنَّ مَلوكاً مَلَكَت مُهجَتي

    لا تَدعُني إِلّا بِيا عَبدَها

    Indeed, Malūk has taken possession of my heart;

    She calls me only, 'O slave of hers!'
