لي صاحِبٌ غابَ عَنّي

لي صاحِبٌ غابَ عَنّي

فَقُلتُ أَمشي إِلَيهِ

فَقُلتُ أَمشي إِلَيهِ

I have a friend who was absent from me;

I have a friend who went away from me

So I said, “I will walk to him.”

So I said, I will go to him

فَقيلَ إِنَّ فُلاناً

فَقيلَ إِنَّ فُلاناً

ذاكَ المَليحُ لَدَيهِ

ذاكَ المَليحُ لَدَيهِ

Then I was told that so-and-so,

But I was told that so-and-so

That handsome one, was with him.

That good-looking one is with him

فَما قَطَعتُ عَلَيهِ

فَما قَطَعتُ عَلَيهِ

لَكِن قُطِعتُ عَلَيهِ

لَكِن قُطِعتُ عَلَيهِ

So I did not cut in on him,

So I did not go to him

But I was cut off on his account.

Rather, I was cut off from him
