إِنّي لَأَشكُرُ لِلوُشاةِ يَداً

إِنّي لَأَشكُرُ لِلوُشاةِ يَداً

عِندي يَقِلُّ بِمِثلِها الشُكرُ

عِندي يَقِلُّ بِمِثلِها الشُكرُ

I do indeed thank the slanderers for a favor;

I do thank the slanderers with one hand

For such a favor, to my mind, thanks fall short.

Though with the likes of it, my thanks are scarce

قالوا فَأَغرَونا بِقَولِهِم

قالوا فَأَغرَونا بِقَولِهِم

حَتّى تَأَكَّدَ بَينَنا الأَمرُ

حَتّى تَأَكَّدَ بَينَنا الأَمرُ

They spoke, and with their words spurred us on,

They talked and lured us with their say

Until the bond between us grew firm.

Until between us the matter was confirmed
