أَنا ذا زُهَيرُكَ لَيسَ

إِلّا جودُ كَفِّكَ لي مُزَينَه

إِلّا جودُ كَفِّكَ لي مُزَينَه

Here I am, your Zuhayr; nothing

I am your Zuhair, nothing but

but your hand’s bounty is my Muzaynah.

The generosity of your hand adorns me

أَهوى جَميلَ الذِكرِ عَن

أَهوى جَميلَ الذِكرِ عَن

كَ كَأَنَّما هُوَ لي بُثَينَه

كَ كَأَنَّما هُوَ لي بُثَينَه

I love fair mention of

I love the beauty of your mention

you, as though it were my Buthaynah.

As if it were a gift just for me

فَاِسأَل ضَميرَكَ عَن وِدا

فَاِسأَل ضَميرَكَ عَن وِدا

دي إِنَّهُ فيهِ جُهَينَه

دي إِنَّهُ فيهِ جُهَينَه

So ask your conscience about the affection

So ask yourself about the love

I bear; for in this it is Juhaynah.

Of me, for it is hidden inside thee
