أَرِحني مِنكَ حَتّى لا

أَرِحني مِنكَ حَتّى لا

أَرى مَنظَرَكَ الوَعرا

أَرى مَنظَرَكَ الوَعرا

Give me relief from you, so that I do not

Spare me from you so that I no longer

see your forbidding appearance.

See your rough appearance

فَقَد صِرتُ أَرى بُعدَ

فَقَد صِرتُ أَرى بُعدَ

كَ عَنّي الراحَةَ الكُبرى

كَ عَنّي الراحَةَ الكُبرى

For I have come to regard your distance

For I have come to see that distance

from me as the greatest relief.

From you is the greatest comfort

فَما تَنفَعُ في الدُنيا

فَما تَنفَعُ في الدُنيا

وَلا تَشفَعُ في الأُخرى

وَلا تَشفَعُ في الأُخرى

For you are of no use in this world,

So you are of no use in this life

nor do you intercede in the next.

Nor will you intercede in the next

لَقَد خابَ الَّذي كُنتَ

لَقَد خابَ الَّذي كُنتَ

لَهُ في شِدَّةٍ ذُخرا

لَهُ في شِدَّةٍ ذُخرا

Indeed, disappointed is the one you were

Indeed he who you used to be

a resource for in adversity.

A support for in times of hardship has failed
