لا تَلُمني أَو فَلُمني

لا تَلُمني أَو فَلُمني

فيكَ ظُلمٌ وَتَجَنّي

فيكَ ظُلمٌ وَتَجَنّي

Do not blame me—or else blame me.

Do not blame me or resent me

In you there is injustice and wrongful blame.

There is injustice in you and you have wronged me

لا تُسابِقني لِعَتبٍ

لا تُسابِقني لِعَتبٍ

ما بِذا تَخلُصُ مِنّي

ما بِذا تَخلُصُ مِنّي

Do not race me to reproach;

Do not hasten to rebuke me

you will not escape me that way.

What good will that do to free you of me

لا تُغالِطني وَحَقُّ ال

لا تُغالِطني وَحَقُّ ال

لَهِ ما يَكذِبُ ظَنّي

لَهِ ما يَكذِبُ ظَنّي

Do not try to mislead me; by the sanctity of

Do not deceive me when the truth

God, my suspicion does not lie.

Does not belie my suspicions

لا تَقُل إِنّي وَإِنّي

لا تَقُل إِنّي وَإِنّي

لَيسَ هَذا القَولُ يُغني

لَيسَ هَذا القَولُ يُغني

Do not say, 'Indeed I... and indeed I...';

Do not say, I did this and I did that

this talk is of no use.

These words will not avail

أَيُّها العاتِبُ ظُلماً

أَيُّها العاتِبُ ظُلماً

يا حَبيبي لَكَ أَعني

يا حَبيبي لَكَ أَعني

O you who reproach unjustly,

O you who unjustly rebukes

O my beloved, it is you I mean.

My love, I care for you

أَنا لا أَسأَلُ عَمَّن

أَنا لا أَسأَلُ عَمَّن

لَم يَكُن يَسأَلُ عَنّي

لَم يَكُن يَسأَلُ عَنّي

I do not ask after anyone

I do not ask about one

who did not ask after me.

Who did not ask about me

إِن تَزُرني فَبِذا الشَر

إِن تَزُرني فَبِذا الشَر

طِ وَإِلّا لا تَزُرني

طِ وَإِلّا لا تَزُرني

If you visit me, then on this

If you visit me with harm

condition; otherwise, do not visit me.

Then why, if not, do not burden me

فَاِستَرِح بِاللَهِ مِن هَ

فَاِستَرِح بِاللَهِ مِن هَ

ذا التَجَنّي وَأَرِحني

ذا التَجَنّي وَأَرِحني

So, for God's sake, take a rest from

So find peace with God from

this wrongful blame, and let me rest.

This injustice and set me free
