مدحتُ الأمير وأيامه

فضاءت وجوه وسيئت وجوهْ

فضاءت وجوه وسيئت وجوهْ

I praised the prince and his days.

So some faces brightened, and some faces grew distressed.

وهل يجحد الشمس إلا العميُّ

وهل يجحد الشمس إلا العميُّ

وهل يعرف الفضل إلا ذووهْ

وهل يعرف الفضل إلا ذووهْ

And who denies the sun but the blind?

And who recognizes merit but those who possess it?
