عجباً من رجلٍ ذي سَعة
تأخذwear away الأيامthe days منfrom منسأتهْhis walking staff
تأخذ الأيام من منسأتهْ
How astonishing—a man of wealth!
The days wear away his walking staff.
يحرسhe guards المالthe wealth ولاand does not يأكلهhe consumes it
يحرس المال ولا يأكله
نظرthe gaze البازيthe hawk علىfrom مربأتهhis lookout
نظر البازي على مربأته
He guards his wealth but does not consume it,
Like a hawk gazing from his lookout.
إنماonly يجمعhe gathers ماwhat يجمعهhe gathers it
إنما يجمع ما يجمعه
راغمhumbled الأنفthe nose لبعلِfor the husband of امرأتهhis wife
راغم الأنف لبعلِ امرأته
He merely gathers whatever he gathers,
Against his will, for the man who will marry his wife.
