He crossed in delight to the island, desiring
to Sancho the envoys, bewildered and disappointed.
To renew a raid that evokes wonder

حَديثِ البَحر لا يَربو اِرتِيابا
Our lord turned them back only because of
And there the messengers met him, seeking
the matter of the sea, lest doubt increase.
Through his kindness the truce's approach

إِلى أُفرُوطَة الكُفر اِنسيابا
He brought his victorious army closer by sea,
So he granted them it, may my Lord reward him
gliding toward the fleet of unbelief.
For his beautiful opinions, correctness

When the fleet came forth, there fled
And place therein for Islam eminence
the forces of unbelief, slipping away across the sea.

They did not wait for their stragglers,
And that is of matters the Master narrated
and, had they been asked, would have given no reply.

There were between them matters
for his excellent, sound judgments,
Forgetting which the bliss of discourse prohibits me
