If a neighbor settles among the noble lions,

then, beside the star, he fears no one.

Mighty is he who has Malik for a neighbor.

I am no stranger when I settle among the Azd.

Fahm had given his sons a charge,

which they kept; he had counseled them rightly.

Honor the guest and safeguard the sanctity of the

neighbor; and be among those I love to have close.

So Malik observed his father's charge,

and thus the noble keeps the noble alive.

    Malik takes tribute from the

people, and Maʿadd fears his onslaught.
