وَحسيناًAlas for Husayn! فلاso never نسيتُI forget حسيناًHusayn
وَحسيناً فلا نسيتُ حسيناً
أَقصدتهstruck him dead أسنّةُspearheads الأعداءِof the enemies
أَقصدته أسنّةُ الأعداءِ
Alas for Husayn! May I never forget Husayn.
The enemies’ spearheads struck him dead.
غادَروهthey left him بِكربلاءَat Karbala صريعاًslain
غادَروه بِكربلاءَ صريعاً
جادَتِmay they pour generously المزنُthe rain clouds فيupon ذرىthe heights of كربلاءِKarbala
جادَتِ المزنُ في ذرى كربلاءِ
They left him slain at Karbala.
May the rain clouds pour generously upon the heights of Karbala.
