Come, you two, give me my morning draught before obstacles intervene,

And before the men draw blades like streaks of lightning.

On the morning when Habib, clad in iron, leads us,

We plunge into death in the shadows of fluttering banners.

He stands unyielding when war's sparks fly,

And the dust of war billows above the flashing swords.

Who, then, will tell al-Hajjaj that his trusted man

Ziyad was felled by the spears of the Azariqa?
