Ah, many a visitor whose visit brings delight,

His wrap, made of his night, enfolds him.

His girdle heralded me with his generosity,

And the beauty of a cheek whose redness shone pure.

    يُطْلِعُ مِنْها قَمْراً أَزْرَارُهُ

    Its pomegranate blossom excels in redness;

His buttons reveal a moon from among them.

His cheek-down sprouted along his cheek,

So its haste cut short my respite,

Like the gallop of a steed whose stumbling was not hidden.

Its vengeance is exacted from afar through nearness.

May there be no gallop whose dust is not raised!
