So if anyone asks about me, indeed I swear

by Jirwah, who neither roams for pasture nor is lent out,

kept close in winter; you never see her

behind the encampment with foals following her.

In summer she has heaps of feed and a covering,

and aged she-camels, among her finest, abundant in milk.

Hear now: tell the sons of al-ʿUsharāʾ on my behalf,

    openly, for secrecy has passed:

I killed your chiefs and slaughtered some of you,

a slaughter like that of hyraxes.

And we did not kill you secretly, but

openly, while the dust had risen high.

So you had no right to insult us,

sons of al-ʿUsharāʾ, when the boasting grew earnest.
