صَدَدتِ الكأسَ عَنّا أُمَّ عَمروٍ

صَدَدتِ الكأسَ عَنّا أُمَّ عَمروٍ

وكان الكأسُ مجراها اليمينا

وكان الكأسُ مجراها اليمينا

You withheld the cup from us, O Umm Amr,

The cup was turned from us by Umm 'Amr

though the cup used to pass to the right.

Though the cup's direction was to the right

وما شَرُّ الثلاثةِ أُمَّ عَمروٍ

وما شَرُّ الثلاثةِ أُمَّ عَمروٍ

بصاحبكِ الذي لا تَصبَحينا

بصاحبكِ الذي لا تَصبَحينا

Nor is the worst of the three, O Umm Amr,

And not the worst of three is Umm 'Amr

your companion, whom you deny a morning draught.

To your companion whom you did slight
