شَتَّانَ ما بَينَنا في كلِّ سَبَبِ

شَتَّانَ ما بَينَنا في كلِّ سَبَبِ

They wear down my bones, while my concern is to mend theirs.

How far apart we are in every respect!

أهوى بقاءهُمُ جُهدي وأَكثرُ ما

أهوى بقاءهُمُ جُهدي وأَكثرُ ما

يَهوَونَ أن أَغتدي في حُفرَةِ التُرَبِ

يَهوَونَ أن أَغتدي في حُفرَةِ التُرَبِ

I desire their survival with all my strength, while what they most

desire is for dawn to find me in a pit of earth.
