قل للعدوّ الذي يغتابني سَفَهاً

قل للعدوّ الذي يغتابني سَفَهاً

إِنّي على أَنفهِ إِن طار أَو وَقَعا

إِنّي على أَنفهِ إِن طار أَو وَقَعا

Tell the enemy who foolishly speaks ill of me:

Say to the enemy who slanders me foolishly

I stand upon his nose, whether he flies or falls.

That I stand poised above his nose if he soars or plunges

لقد تناولتَ ليثاً ضَيغَماً هُصَراً

لقد تناولتَ ليثاً ضَيغَماً هُصَراً

لم يُلفَ ذا نَبوَةٍ يوماً ولا وَرَعا

لم يُلفَ ذا نَبوَةٍ يوماً ولا وَرَعا

You have indeed assailed a lion, fierce and crushing,

You have provoked a fierce, angry lion, steadfast and austere

Never once found faltering or timid;

One never known for restraint or piety in his day

غَشَمشماً شاكِلَ الأَنيابِ ذا لِبَدٍ

غَشَمشماً شاكِلَ الأَنيابِ ذا لِبَدٍ

في فيهِ سُمُّ المنايا للعِدَى نُقعا

في فيهِ سُمُّ المنايا للعِدَى نُقعا

A headlong brute, with interlocking fangs and a matted mane,

Baring his teeth like knives, deadly poison on his lips

In his mouth, death's venom is steeped for his foes;

For the foe - once he pounces there's no going back

قُصاقِصاً غالباً للقِرنن مُحتقراً

قُصاقِصاً غالباً للقِرنن مُحتقراً

ليست له رجعةٌ يوماً إذا اندفعا

ليست له رجعةٌ يوماً إذا اندفعا

Mighty, overcoming the opponent and scorning him,

A destroyer prevailing over all horns, scorning those who resist

He never turns back once he charges;

No retreat once he charges forth unleashed

مُصَمصِماً صادقاً يُلقي فريسَتَه

مُصَمصِماً صادقاً يُلقي فريسَتَه

في كل مُعتَرَكٍ ممزوقةً قِطَعا

في كل مُعتَرَكٍ ممزوقةً قِطَعا

Resolute and true in his attack, he casts his prey

Resolute and true, his prey thrown down torn to pieces

On every battlefield, torn into pieces.

In every fray ripped limb from limb shredded remains
