ما فوقَ ما نالت يدايَ به
قَتلُthe slaying of الملوكِthe kings وسادَةِand the chiefs of الفُرسانِthe horsemen
قَتلُ الملوكِ وسادَةِ الفُرسانِ
Not beyond what my hands have achieved with it
is the slaying of kings and the chiefs of horsemen.
أَسموI advance إليهمtoward them كالهِزَبرِlike a lion سماحةًgenerously
أَسمو إليهم كالهِزَبرِ سماحةً
بالنفسِwith one's life منكَfrom you لموقفِfor the encounter with الأَقرانِequal opponents
بالنفسِ منكَ لموقفِ الأَقرانِ
I advance toward them like a lion, freely offering
my life, thanks to you, to face my equals.
ماnot رامَهُattempted it أحدٌanyone سواكexcept you لأَنهمbecause they
ما رامَهُ أحدٌ سواك لأَنهم
خافواthey feared الرَّدىdeath بحقائقamid the realities of المَيدانِthe battlefield
خافوا الرَّدى بحقائق المَيدانِ
No one but you attempted it, for they
feared death amid the realities of the battlefield.
ولقدand indeed فَجَعتُI bereaved الفرسَthe Persians غيرَwithout being مُذَمَّمٍblamed
ولقد فَجَعتُ الفرسَ غيرَ مُذَمَّمٍ
لمَّاwhen طَغَواthey grew insolent بعنيدهمwith their defiant champion بُورانِBuran
لمَّا طَغَوا بعنيدهم بُورانِ
And indeed I bereaved the Persians, without reproach,
when they grew insolent with their defiant champion, Buran.
