أناI أَبوAbu (father of) ثَورٍThawr (bull) وَوَقَّافُand one who stands firm on الزَّلَقslippery ground
لستُI am not بمأفونٍfeeble-minded ولاnor فِيَّin me خَرَقfolly
I am Abu Thawr, and I stand firm on slippery ground.
I am Abu Thawr, the stopper of slips,
I am not feeble-minded, nor is there folly in me.
I am not despised, nor am I ripped,
وَأَسدُand the lion of القومِthe people إِذاwhen احمرَّturn red الحَدَقthe pupils of the eyes
إِذاwhen الرجالُthe men عَضَّهمbites them نابُthe fang of الفَرَقfear
And I am the people's lion when eyes turn red.
The lion of the people when the eyes redden,
When men are bitten by the fang of fear,
When men bite them the canine tooth of separation,
وَجدتَنيyou will find me بالسيفِwith the sword هَتَّاكَa relentless tearer of الحَلَقthe mail rings
You will find me ripping through mail rings with the sword.
You will find me with the sword, slaughterer of necks
