You remained seated on your hairy backside, reviling me
You slandered me, sprawled on the ground,
before the Messenger, but you neither spoke truth nor hit the mark.
In the presence of the Messenger, but you were not truthful nor correct.
إِنif تُبغُضوناyou hate us فَإِنَّthen indeed الرومَthe Romans أَصلُكُمُyour stock
إِن تُبغُضونا فَإِنَّ الرومَ أَصلُكُمُ
وَالرومُand the Romans لاdo not تَملُكُrestrain البَغضاءَhatred لِلعَرَبِtoward the Arabs
وَالرومُ لا تَملُكُ البَغضاءَ لِلعَرَبِ
If you hate us, the Romans are indeed your stock,
If you hate us, the Romans are your origins,
and the Romans cannot restrain their hatred of the Arabs.
And the Romans cannot harbor hatred for the Arabs.
فَإِنfor indeed سُؤدُدَناour nobility عَودُancient وَسُؤدُدَكُمand your nobility

مُؤَخَرٌ عِندَ أَصلِ العَجبِ وَالذَنَبِ
For our nobility is ancient, and yours
For our roots are sound but your roots
lies at the rear, at the base of the tailbone and tail.
Are deferred, at the origin of wonder and sin.
